"I think he will, just 'cause he can" — The Alchemist believes Kendrick Lamar will drop an album in 2024

American DJ and rapper Alan Daniel Maman, aka The Alchemist, is the one who made the beat for Kendrick Lamar's track Meet the Grahams. In a recent interview with TMZ, the DJ answered a question pertaining to Lamar's upcoming release schedule, as the publication inquired if he had any insider information regarding the same.

Talking about the possibility of Kendrick Lamar releasing a new album in 2024, DJ Alchemist mentioned that while Lamar won the beef and that the rapper doesn't have to drop an album, he has a good feeling. Expanding on the statement, the DJ told TMZ:

"I think he's gonna drop an album this year. I don't think he has to. I think he will, just cuse he can."

According to details of the DJ's interview mentioned on Flip The Media, he described the process of making a beat for Meet The Grahams organically and also mentioned that he was unaware of how the beat would be used to diss Drake and his family.

The Alchemist also spoke about Lamar's ability to "take a beat and elevate it to a whole new level." He mentioned that when he sent Lamar the beat for the Drake diss track, he was aware the rapper would do something special with it, but he exceeded DJ Alchemist's expectations.

The Alchemist told the publication that the beat for the diss track was created with the aim of giving Lamar a soundscape that would challenge and inspire him. The DJ also mentioned how he always tries to push boundaries with his beats because Lamar isn't afraid to experiment or take risks. He also mentioned that he frequently sends beats to Kendrick Lamar as it is part of their creative dialogue. The DJ shared that Lamar sometimes sits on the beats for some time or uses them immediately.

Additionally, the publication also asked The Alchemist if he had more beats to give to Kendrick Lamar, to which he answered, pointing toward his car and stating:

"I got some records in this car, I'm about to send them as soon as I get home."

In the interview, The Alchemist also talked about the mutual respect and understanding between himself and Kendrick Lamar, mentioning that their relationship is based on artistic freedom and a foundation of trust.

Commenting on the same, the DJ stated:

“Kendrick trusts me to provide him with the right sound, and I trust him to bring his unique vision to life. It’s a partnership that allows both of us to grow and evolve as artists."

Toward the end of the interview, The Alchemist shared his belief that Kendrick Lamar is "one of the greatest artists of our time" and that it is an honor to work with the rapper.


In other news, The Alchemist made a cameo appearance in the music video for Eminem's Houdini. In an interview with MTV, the DJ shared that he was very involved in the recording process of Eminem's latest single and called the rapper his "boss."

The DJ stated that he just deejays for Eminem and isn't at liberty to share more details on his upcoming projects.
