John Legend's Instagram post garnered a strong response from the internet wherein fans were divided into supporting the singer's stance toward Kamala Harris and expressing their opinions against it.
One of the fans commented:
"I had to unfollow after this. I love your music but their isn't much of this tweet that is true. Please do not vote for Kamala...Vote for Trump"
Some of the internet users targetted John's points for supporting Kamala Harris by alleging that he was privileged and hence didn't understand the plight of the common man:
On the other hand, fans of the On Time singer supported and reinforced his decision to endorse Kamala Harris for the 2024 Presidential election:
"Most consequential first term of real progress" — John Legend praises Joe Biden and supports Kamala Harris
In his Instagram post endorsing Kamala Harris, John Legend emphasized the 46th U.S. President's positive contribution during his tenure. He wrote:
“Joe Biden has presided over the most consequential first term of real progress in my lifetime.”
The singer stated how Biden helped America recover from the pandemic by investing in infrastructure, making it the "largest investment in fighting climate change" their nation had ever seen. John also commented on Biden relieving many students of college debt and mentioned the presence of a low rate of unemployment, inflation, and crime rates which had drastically risen during the pandemic.
John added in his post that Biden's track record has earned him re-election, however, he is grateful for the "grace and patriotism" shown by Joe Biden by choosing to step down for the greater good of the country. The Minefields singer also highlighted that he was ready to "help unite the pro-democracy coalition" to reject Donald Trump's Project 2025 and elect Kamala Harris as the President.
Trump's Project 2025 proposes that all the Department of State employees having leadership roles should be dismissed by January 20, 2025. Pioneers of the policy argue that Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution confers executive powers solely on the President.
This is not the first instance of John Legend extending his support toward Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The singer was one of the key celebrities who attended the Biden-Harris rally, which took place in Philadelphia in November 2020. He encouraged voters to support the Democratic Presidential nominee.
