Is OG Maco dead? Rapper's manager denies reports of his death as fans take to social media to pay tribute

On December 12, 2024, TMZ reported that American rapper OG Maco was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head following an alleged suicide attempt.

Following the news, rumors of the rapper's death began circulating on social media with netizens posting RIP messages via X by mentioning Maco's hit tracks such as:

"A time was had when this song came out. The Clubs floor and walls was shakin so crazy 😭 RIP OG MACO"

However, debunking the rumors, OG Maco's manager Poppa Perccc took to Instagram on December 13, 2024, calling out the social media page @SayCheeseTV and stating:

"@SayCheeseTV is "capping right now. Maco is still in ICU."

In another update, Poppa Perccc clarified that OG Maco is not dead and is instead in critical condition at the moment, the rapper's manager wrote:

“Most of yall seen the internet so far. We need everyone pray for my brother OG Maco !! He’s in critical condition right now and they need to get him to a stable enough condition to work on him. The latest update is we are waiting on the neurologist to look over his brain scan."

In the now-deleted statement, Poppa apologized to those who reached out to him stating he couldn't get back to them because he had been dealing with the press for the last 24 hours.

"I thought he was dead when I first saw him" — OG Maco's manager recalls his reaction on seeing the rapper post gunshot wound

According to a report by AllHipHop dated December 13, 2024, OG Maco was admitted at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, as confirmed by his manager Poppa Perccc. The report mentionsed that first responders were called to Maco's residence on December 12, 2024, after a neighbour allegedly heard a gunshot.

Poppa stated that the rapper shot himself in the head in an alleged su*cide attempt and told the publication:

“I thought he was dead when I first saw him. We were about rebrand and drop [new music] under a whole new alias. We need everyone’s prayers. But don’t get your hopes up. We don’t have too much information. They won’t even let us come to the hospital.”

Maco's manager added that the rapper is currently on life support and doctors are doing everything to save him. Additionally, Poppa also commented under a since-deleted Instagram reel by DJ Paul on December 12, 2024, wherein Paul's caption addressing Maco stated:

"Love U Nephew! We wish people we love spoke out to us more about whats going on inside but a lot of times its hard for some because this world is so driven on ‘Impressions.'”

Poppa responded in the comment section that he was the rapper's manager and wanted DJ Paul to connect with him via DM instantly, adding that Maco wasn't dead.

OG Maco survived a near-fatal car crash in 2016 wherein he suffered from a broken orbital, cracked vertebrae, multiple skull fractures, and heart palpitations.

Additionally, in 2019, the rapper shared that he was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis- a flesh-eating disease, via photos and videos on Instagram Stories. The images he posted at the time showcased a large portion of his face and scalp covered in scabbing.
