Speculations on whether Rihanna would go on tour in 2024 are rife following reports from multiple media outlets that the celebrated singer had signed a deal with Live Nation to go on tour and release a new album. However, Rihanna hasn’t officially confirmed whether she’d be going on tour in 2024.

Her original soundtrack for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever movie and her subsequent performance at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023 have stirred renewed interest in a ninth album from the superstar.

The nine-time Grammy Award winner’s last tour was in 2016, to promote her album titled Anti. According to Billboard Boxscore, the tour was a commercial success and grossed more than $110 million.

Media outlets like Entertainment Tonight and The Mirror, reported in October 2023, that close sources to Rihanna had confirmed a deal with Live Nation. The deal was reportedly worth £32 million for a comeback tour in 2024/2025 and a new album.

Per reports from The Mirror, the statement from the insider read:

“Rihanna quietly planning a comeback tour after signing with Live Nation. The deal was created to facilitate a world tour and her creative team is quietly at work in Los Angeles putting it all together as she raises her family. She’ll press play on the live show once she’s ready to go back to work and has two albums’ worth of material to release once she’s back.”

The reports of the deal were subsequently debunked by Billboard in the same month. According to Billboard, a high-level source stated that “no tour had been confirmed for Rihanna.” The magazine’s source further stated that the Diamond hitmaker had not yet committed to any touring projects for 2024.

The Fenty mogul addressed the touring rumors in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in December 2023. The singer maintained that it was always the plan to go back on tour at some point. Rihanna shared in the interview:

“I want to do a tour when there’s new music, right? My last tour was a long time ago, I feel like it’s only fair that my fans get what they’ve been waiting on, which is new music. And after that, let’s just, like, blow everything up!”

The Barbadian singer has teased the release of a ninth album on different occasions. At the Fenty Hair launch party in Los Angeles in June 2024, she explained her process of creating new music as "rediscovering things." She added:

“I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside and now I’m prepared to go back in the studio. I’m gonna start — give me a second!"

Rihanna added:

"Yeah, I’m starting over, but I don’t want to neglect the songs that I have, so I actually want to go back and listen to stuff with new ears, with my new perspective and then see what applies and what I’m still in love with.”

While fans await the singer's elusive ninth album, she has been busy with her successful businesses. Her label, Fenty Beauty, recently announced itself as a premium partner for the ongoing Olympics and Paralympics in Paris.

Whether the singer will put out new music or go on tour in 2024 remains to be seen.
