Journey were scheduled to perform across UK and Ireland as part of their Freedom Tour in October and November 2024. However, the band has reportedly canceled the tour, with Planet Rock reporting on August 6, 2024, that ticketholders received the following statement annoucing the cancelation of tour:
"Due to circumstances beyond the band's control, Journey's UK and Ireland tour is unfortunately cancelled. Refunds will be made from your point of purchase."
The Ticketmaster page for Journey tour dates and tickets shiows the Freedom Tour dates to be cancelled, and the O2 venues and other local venue websites have also removed the information on the shows that were set to be held in respective venues.
As mentioned above, refunds will be available via point of purchase. Ticketmaster and other authorized vendors may automatically process said refunds. Patrons who have bought tickets from third party vendors like Stub Hub will need to reach out to the said vendors for refunds.
There has been no social media statement regarding the apparent tour cancelation. However, fans have confirmed that the tour was canceled on social media, including X:
Journey members in credit card dispute
While neither any official announcement or any reasons have been provided for the apparent cancelation of the tour, the cancelation comes after band member Jonathan Crain filed a lawsuit in Delaware against band member Neal Schon on the matter of Freedom 2020 Inc, the legal entity that manages Journey.
The petition, published by Bloomberg Law on July 30, 2024, reads that Schon has exceeded the maximum credit limit of the band's Amex credit card, set at $1million, due to private expenditures as well as usage of private jets and other amenities for Schon and his wife, all unauthorized.
Furthermore, Schon has reportedly also exceeded the usage of the $1500 limit on hotel charges limit. Alongside the Amex credit card and hotel charge disputes, the two Journey members, Jonathan Crain and Neal Schon, in their roles as the two directors of Freedom 2020 Inc, are embroiled in other financial and management matters as well.
As both are 50% stock owners of the company and the attempt to install a third deadlock breaking third director failed, the petition requests the court to appoint a custodian to break the deadlock.
