On November 12, 2024, Kanye West's attorney Manoj Shah pleaded with Judge Christopher Lui to give the rapper more time to find someone to represent him. The request was made in relation to the lawsuit brought against the rapper by a former Donda Academy employee.

Manoj Shah who doesn't specialize in civil litigation, told Judge Christopher Lui that they have been interviewing several firms but it has failed to work out for one reason or the other.

The lawsuit was brought against Ye by Donda Academy's former assistant principal Isaiah Meadows and his attorney Ron Zambrano commented on Kanye West's lack of participation in the case by telling Courthouse News on November 12, 2024:

“I just think that sometimes he has the attention span of a goldfish.”

As per All Hip Hop, Kanye West has been facing multiple lawsuits but either keeps firing his attorneys or refuses to pay them. Moreover, while Judge Christopher Lui decided to wait to give a judgment after hearing about the rapper's failure to secure a new attorney, the judge warned Ye saying that this couldn't continue forever. Judge Lui also said that if a substitute counsel was going to come in, it had to be done quickly.

"He’s going to have to pay attention to this case somehow"- Isaiah Meadows' attorney comments on Kanye West's lawsuit

In his statement to Courthouse News, Isiah Meadows' attorney Ron Zambrano called the rapper's current situation an odd one and mentioned that:

“This is the first time we’ve heard there’s an attorney representing [West’s] interests. Whoever the next attorney is, there’s a long history of people not getting paid by Kanye West, which is part of the problem. But we’re gonna move forward. He’s going to have to pay attention to this case somehow.”

Zambrano also said that Ye's current situation "just delays the inevitable" and added that there are some very serious things the rapper has done that "he's going to have reckon with."

Isaiah Meadows' lawsuit against Kanye West explored

According to The Guardian dated July 7, 2023, a former employee of the Yeezy Christian Academy Isaiah Meadows filed a lawsuit against Kanye West in the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The academy was later changed to Donda Academy, a private Christian school started by the rapper.

In the lawsuit, Meadows alleged that he was fired for raising questions about the safety issues at the academy and wasn't paid properly as well. The former Donda Academy employee began working as an assistant principal for the academy in 2020 and was promised rental assistance to afford a home closer to the school in Calabasas.

The lawsuit mentioned that he got only the first three months of rent and then his rental assistance was terminated after and he was suspended from his position two weeks before the academy's fall semester in August 2022. Additionally, Meadows also mentioned in his lawsuit that the school's main classroom did not have glass in its skylight because Kanye West did not like glass which led to water getting into the classroom, causing a moldy smell to linger.

The former Donda Academy employee claimed that the poor electrical wiring at Yeezy Christian Academy led to an electrical fire near the student eating area. In addition, the academy lacked hot water and had septic tank issues wherein it overflowed and caused a terrible smell. Meadows claimed that it was because of him raising safety concerns at the school that he was fired.

In other news, Isaiah Meadows is not the only former Donda Academy employee who has filed a lawsuit against Kanye West. In April 2023, Chekarey Byers and Cecilia Hailey filed a lawsuit against West in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

The plaintiffs claimed that the rapper's school failed to acknowledge their complaints despite multiple "health and safety violations" and unlawful educational practices.
