Katy Perry recently announced her sixth full-length album's first single, Woman's World, is to be released on July 11, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET with a music video to be released the next day.

As per Genius, Dr. Luke is reportedly co-producing Perry's latest single alongside Canadian record producer Cirkut. This news has created a rift amongst fans of the Dark Horse singer and Kesha bringing up the infamous incident of Kesha's alleged r*pe allegation against Dr. Luke.

Previously, Katy Perry has worked with Dr. Luke as her producer on songs like I Kissed a Girl, Roar, Unconditionally, Teenage Dream, and many more.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Kesha's net worth is estimated at $10 million while Katy Perry's net worth is estimated at $400 million making Perry the singer with the bigger net worth.

Katy Perry and Kesha's career timeline, and other details explored

Talking about career timelines, Kesha's career began in 2005 at the age of 18, however, her big break was her feature on Flo Rida's Right Round in 2009. According to Kesha's biography on IMDB, the first few years of her life were a struggle as her mother had difficulty supporting two children. Quoted by Kesha herself, she and her family "were on welfare and food stamps" as mentioned on the IMDB.

At 17, the Die Young singer moved to Los Angeles to work with producer Dr. Luke and in 2014 she sued the producer alleging that he r*ped her and got countersued by Dr. Luke on charges of defamation. Kesha has sold over 71 million albums in the United States and more than 134 million albums globally.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Kesha invested in a $5 million property in Los Angeles in 2020 and listed the same for sale in 2024 at a value of $6 million.

On the other hand, Katy Perry began her career in 2001 with a self-titled Christian music album and later released her sophomore album One of the Boys in 2008. The album reached No.9 on the Billboard 200 post which her single I Kissed a Girl was No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks.

In 2012, Perry was named Billboard's Woman of the Year and she also became one of the judges in American Idol from 2018 to 2024 alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

According to Celebrity Networth, Perry earned an estimated $40 million between June 2019 and 2020 wherein $25 million was solely through American Idol.

While the two female singers seldom crossed paths as music collaborators, Perry has spoken out in the matter of Kesha alleging Dr. Luke r*ped her. According to news of discovering the court documents covered by The Blast dated 29 November 2018, Katy Perry mentioned in her deposition that she felt pressurized to support Kesha.

In her statement, Perry mentioned:

“I felt pressured, but I also knew both of them and a lot of people did not. So it was easy for them to be disattached and support an idea rather than an actual instance."

However, in 2023, Dr. Luke and Kesha reached a settlement on the defamation and r*pe claims, the particulars of which weren't disclosed to the public or media. The settlement averted the hearing which was supposed to take place in the summer of 2023 and featured testimonies of singers including Adam Levine, Perry, Lady Gaga, and Avril Lavinge.

In other news, there are not a lot of details surrounding Katy Perry's sixth album, given that there has been no announcement of a release date or title for the same. However, fans of the Teenage Dream singer are elated because Perry is releasing an album after four years since Smile which was released in August 2020.
