On August 2, 2024, Drake surprised fans by making an appearance at PartyNextDoor's Sorry, I'm Outside tour concert in Toronto. The two artists performed Finesse and Drizzy also performed Wah Gwan Delilah, which is his collaboration with Snow4dy.
The single was released on June 3, 2024, and became the centre of controversies owing to its lyrics and questions pertaining to whether the song is AI-generated.
Moreover, it is not the track that the One Dance rapper is best known for as a result of which his performance of Wah Gwan Delilah sparked a strong response from the internet.
One of the fans took to X and joked about how Kendrick Lamar and Drizzy's beef has resulted in the latter shifting to another genre, given that Wah Gwan Delilah is folk-pop:
"KDot wopped him into another genre"
"Straight TRASH. Drake stans talking bout this fire 😂😂." another X user tweeted
"I get it.. it’s a Toronto song.. but quit playing and perform recognize" a fan mentioned that Drizzy should've performed his collab with PartyNextDoor
"This is embarrassing 🤦🏻♂️" an internet user stated
However, Drizzy's fans were quick to express their positive opinion on the rapper's performance and tweeted in his support:
"An artist right here performs, release songs, raps, makes movies, iconic hiphop artist." a fan tweeted
"Mannn drake keep winning🔥🔥" another fan tweeted
"A pop artist doing pop artist things 👏" an internet user mentioned
"Songs dope, Yall haters it’s funny and different" another internet user tweeted
There were multiple rumours suggesting that Drizzy's vocals on Wah Gwan Delilah were AI generated.
However, the rapper posted the song on his Instagram story on June 4, 2024, with the caption "wake up the city" with laughing emoji, suggesting that his verse in the song was legit and not artificially generated.
"PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be right there for you" - Drizzy announces new album with PartyNextDoor at Toronto concert
While Drizzy surprised fans with his performance at PartyNextDoor's concert in Toronto, he had an additional surprise for the audience which he announced at the end of his performance.
Announcing his new album with PartyNextDoor, the Family Matters rapper said:
“I know all you girls are outside and when it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be right there for you."
Moreover, Drake has always been vocal about his admiration for PartyNextDoor and an instance of the same is when the two performed at Drizzy's venue History in Toronto in 2022.
Calling PartyNextDoor to the stage and wrapping his arm around the artist, Drizzy stated:
“I don’t mean to put you on the spot or anything. I know you hate this the most. I’m so grateful for you. I would not be the artist I am if it wasn’t for you. This is really my favorite artist in the world.”
Drizzy's announcement at PartyNextDoor's concert indicated that the new album will release in the fall of 2024. While Drake has collaborated with multiple artists on tracks, this will be the rapper's second collaborative album after Her Loss with 21 Savage.
According to Uproxx, the upcoming album is Drizzy's first collaborative project with another member of his record label OVO Sound.
