"Kendrick is not going to be able to perform they not like us, and jayz is going to have officially been bodied by a singing ni**a..... everyone is going to gag at how this plays out."

For the unversed, Drake filed a legal action against UMG over Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us on November 25, 2024.

Azealia Banks' comment was in response to @MizzCreme's tweet. In the tweet, the female X user said that she doesn't feel bad for Drizzy now as he had been humbling artists for years because "the machine was behind him".

The X user added a screenshot of Drizzy's comment under DJ Akademiks' Instagram post from October 2023, wherein he called out Joe Budden for saying he wanted Drake to rap for adult people and that he was rapping for kids in one of his podcasts.

"He's going to subpoena literally every platforms records"—Azealia Banks claims in tweet discussing Drake vs UMG drama

Responding to @MizzCreme's tweet dated November 28, 2024, Azealia Banks talked about Drizzy taking legal action against UMG and claimed:

"He's going to subpoena literally every platforms records, they will not be able to cook the books- and *discover* (expose) all the shady backend parts of music streaming no one really understands... "

Referring to Drizzy, the X user also said that he "got the gun no more". Azealia Banks addressed this claim in her tweet and said:

"Oh drake DEFINITELY has the gun. He's about to crook umg and spotify on some minor legal formalities and actually be the first rapper in history to stage a heist of such epic proportions. It's really such a lethal chess move when you really examine it."

Banks added that once Drizzy subpoenas every platform's records, all of them would have to prove that the rapper is a pedophile as lyrics of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us alleged. Azealia Banks said that proving so would make Spotify and UMG "look re***ded".

She said that it is better to observe and understand what is happening and then pick sides. Banks concluded her tweet by expressing excitement over watching "the girls BATTLE," referring to Drizzy's legal action.

Details of Drake's legal petition against Universal Music Group explored

According to a report by Billboard Pro dated November 25, 2024, Drake's company, Frozen Moments LLC, filed a legal petition alleging that Universal Music Group and Spotify falsely boosted the streams of Kendrick Lamar's diss track Not Like Us. The rapper's lawyers claimed that UMG plotted a scheme comprising bots, payola, and other means to enhance the popularity of Lamar's diss track on Drizzy.

In another petition filed in a Texas court, Drizzy's lawyers mentioned iHeart radio alongside UMG. The Passionfruit rapper's lawyers alleged that UMG paid iHeartRadio as a part of a "pay-to-play scheme," asking them to promote Kendrick Lamar's track on radio.

The second petition also claimed that Universal Music Group knew about the false allegations against Drake, calling him a "predator" and "certified pedophile" but went ahead with releasing the song regardless.

As per Billboard Pro's report, Drake's attorneys mentioned that Universal Music Group implicated Kendrick Lamar and insisted that the rapper sue Lamar instead of the music company. Additionally, Drizzy claimed that UMG told him they would sue Lamar if the God's Plan rapper went ahead with his lawsuit.
