Kendrick Lamar performed at the one-off concert called The Pop Out: Ken & Friends on June 19, 2024, at the Kia Forum, California. Hours before the concert, fans shared photos of the merch Kendrick had put out wherein one of the t-shirts featured the picture of New Ho King's fried rice with the font reading Not Like Us.

The New Ho King's fried rice merch is a reference to Kendrick Lamar's lyric from Euphoria which states:

"I be at New Ho King eatin' fried rice with a dip sauce and blammy, crodie"

New Ho King is a Chinese restaurant located in Toronto which is also the Canadian city where Drake lives. Hence, fans speculate that the restaurant reference was made with respect to Drizzy's resident.

New Ho King named a dish after Kendrick Lamar after getting a shoutout in Euphoria

Kendrick Lamar released Euphoria on April 30, 2024, and it targeted Drake calling him a "scam artist" and alleging his shortcomings as a father, plastic surgery, dependency on ghostwriters, misogyny, and more. While the track blew up and became an instant hit, the lyrics of the diss track also made New Ho King a popular joint in Toronto.

New Ho King is allegedly the same place where Drake got robbed of his chain at gunpoint in 2009, however, there hasn't been any confirmation.

Drake also referenced the incident in his track From Florida With Love released in 2020 wherein he states:

"Weezy played that shit for me and Kobe on the bus/ Went and got a chain for me, I had to give it up/ N***as had they pistols loaded pointed at my truck/ And you know that lesson stuck"

Food blogger Clement Leung who goes by the handle @insta.noodls posted a video on Instagram on May 8, 2024, showcasing the effect Lamar's track had on the restaurant.

Fans of the Money Trees rapper were seen dancing outside the food joint and the food blogger asked for the "Kendrick Lamar Special" at the restaurant. The Kendrick Special comprised New Ho King's signature fried rice with dip sauce, spicy fried chicken wings, a beef and broccoli dish, and fried shrimp.

Moreover, Johnny Lu, the owner of New Ho King told CityNews that he thinks "Kendrick's a good guy". Even a server from the Chinese food joint talked to The Guardian and mentioned that the place has been selling a lot of fried rice and that most people visit the restaurant to order it.

In other news, Kendrick Lamar reignited the feud between himself and Drake which was assumed to be over some time ago by rolling out a new verse in the diss track Euphoria. During the opening act of his The Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert he took a dig at Drizzy with new lyrics stating:

“Give me Tupac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect.”

The new verse was in reference to a ring owned by the late Tupac Shakur which Drake purchased for $1 million in 2023.
