Lana Del Rey and Quavo are coming together for their first collaborative single, Tough. The two stars took to social media this Saturday, June 29, and announced that the new single will be released this Wednesday, July 3.
The reveal post featured the duo in a monochrome Polaroid, with Lana helping Quavo don a diamond chain. The Polaroid's border featured the single's title 'Tough,' and the release date of '07.03.2024.'
The much-awaited single promises fresh music for fans and offers a unique fusion of trap beats and country music. Lana Del Rey and Quavo first previewed the track on June 20 at Lana's headlining concert in Boston's Fenway Park.
Amidst the delayed sold-out show, the duo managed to squeeze in a good preview for the track with the lyrics:
“Tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boots/ Like the blue-collar/ Red-dirt attitude/ Like a .38 made out of brass / Tough like the stuff on your grandpa’s glass. Life’s gonna do what it does/ Sure as the good Lords up above/ I’m cut like a diamond shinin’ in the rough.”
All we know so far about Lana Del Rey and Quavo's upcoming single - Tough
Lana Del Rey's latest single, Tough, has a laid-back yet fresh energy and offers fans a quick idea of what to expect from the new chapter in the singer's music career. While it has a similar energy to Lana's previous hits, Tough features harmonious lyrics that are complimented with slow melodic tunes for that extra 'oomph.'
Coming on the heads of her upcoming album, Tough is expected to be the lead single to Lana Del Rey's Lasso. The tenth studio album of the singer's career will be released this September. Expected to come out under the country and/or country trap genre, Lasso will mark a turning point in Lana's music career, which takes great inspiration from alternative pop.
Lana is no stranger to country music and has covered major country hits like Tammy Wynette’s Stand By Your Man and Jon Denver's Take Me Home Country Roads. However, this will be the first time Lana fully immerses herself in soulful country music to produce and sing original tracks for her upcoming album.
The Summertime Sadness singer first teased Lasso at a Billboards function in January. Lana was speaking for her longtime collaborator, Jack Antonoff, at the function when she said:
“If you can’t already tell by our award winners and our performers, the music business is going country. We’re going country. I knew it, I said it, it’s happening. That’s what’s happening! And that’s why Jack has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi over the last four years — to write our album, coming out in September, called Lasso.”
The Margaret singer has kept most details about the upcoming album under wraps. While the album is confirmed to be released under Interscope Records and Polydor Records, there are no details about the collaborators and featured artists.
If Tough happens to be the lead single for Lasso, fans can expect Lana Del Rey to disclose more details about the upcoming album on or after this Wednesday.
Lana's Lasso will follow up her chart-topping album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. The 2023 album peaked at the third position on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
