It has been close to a month since Liam Payne's death, with the Rolex watch he was wearing hours before his fall still missing. According to a local Argentinian newspaper - La Nacion - police officers are trying to locate Payne's watch, which is reportedly worth $30,000. According to the news outlet, the detectives said:

"We know, from images that were analyzed, that Payne was wearing a Rolex on the day of his death."

While the rest of the hotel where the former One Direction member was staying has already been searched for the Rolex, his hotel room was excluded due to being closed on a court order.

Payne fell from his room on the evening of October 16 and was pronounced dead at the scene. The singer's death triggered an emotional response from both his celebrity friends as well as a large community of his fans.

Liam Payne's father allegedly said that his Rolex had sentimental value

On Monday, November 11, TMZ reported that it had been confirmed by law enforcement sources in Buenos Aires that Geoff Payne had asked for his son's missing watch when Liam's possessions were handed over to him.

Geoff allegedly added that the Rolex had sentimental value. As the search for the watch began, the hotel's security camera footage revealed it to be on Payne's wrist hours before the fall. However, the authorities who found his body claimed that he was not wearing the watch when he fell, adding that it was not stolen after his death.

Besides the CasaSur Hotel, the homes of the three suspected arrested in connection to Payne's death were also raided by the police for the watch, with no success.

One of the three suspects involved a staff member at the hotel, who was charged with abandonment of a person followed by death. Two other suspects were charged with allegations of supplying and facilitating the use of narcotics.

While all three of them have been released from captivity at the moment, they're under several judicial restrictions, one of which includes not leaving Argentina until the investigations are closed.

Liam Payne was staying at the CasaSur Hotel before his death

Liam Payne and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, visited Argentina in the last week of September for a vacation. They also planned to attend Niall Horan's concert while in the country. Payne shared much of their trip on Snapchat, with their final stay at Palermo's CasaSur Hotel.

On October 14, Cassidy left Payne to return to Florida. Two days later, the singer fell down the balcony of his hotel room, and could not survive the injuries incurred, resulting in his death.

Liam's autopsy reports revealed that the singer didn't use his reflexes to protect his body in the fall, suggesting that he was either unconscious or semi-conscious at the time.

The 31-year-old's lack of consciousness could be a potential outcome of the substances that were present in his system at the time of his death, as per his toxicology report. The substances confirmed in the report include "traces of alcohol, cocaine, and a prescribed antidepressant."

A Live Mint report published on November 10, 2024, stated that the Argentinian authorities have ruled suicide out as the cause of Liam Payne's death, with the injuries causing it being consistent with his fall.
