Lil Baby has recently dismissed the possibility of another collaboration with Gunna in the future. The claims came during the former's appearance in an episode of Charlamagne Tha God's Out of Context series and the video of his claim went viral on December 19, 2024.
In the viral clip, Lil Baby described his bond with Gunna by simply saying:
"We ain't got no relationship."
The rapper even addressed the fact about fans saying that he can never make a hit without Gunna's assistance, saying that it does not make any sense. He further stated:
"The internet will say anything. You know how many hits I got?"
Furthermore, Charlamagne questioned Lil about what he would do if Young Thug invited him to a studio, intending to create collaborative music with Gunna. Lil said this would never happen since Thug would never make such a request to him. Lil then explained by saying:
"I'm just saying, like, 'I want you to participate.' I don't know what nobody else will do. But as far as me, know what I'm saying?"
Lil had seemingly targeted Gunna in his single 350, which was released last year. One of the verses from the track featured the word "rat" and Lil referred to the same in his latest interview as he said that the internet can create anything. He also mentioned:
"I talk about rats in every song I had since I started rappin'. They just be creating a narrative and I don't even be talkin' about a n*gga. It's whoever's a rat."
Lil Baby and Gunna shared a close relationship by collaborating on some projects
According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the rappers began establishing themselves respectively in the hip-hop industry around six years ago. The duo even joined each other for a collaborative project, Drip Harder, which came out back in 2018.
Notably, the soundtrack of the mixtape featured a single titled Drip Too Hard, which turned out to be successful, reaching the top of the Billboard charts. They also had the opportunity to work together on singles like Ready and Can't Leave Without It.
Gunna later spoke up on how he felt working with Lil Baby during a conversation with Beats 1 Radio, saying that it is easy to collaborate with the artist and added:
"It's like we both developed and got ourselves together where he was doing this sh*t when we weren't together, and now that we at a point where we stable and we controlling the market, it's easier. You know what I'm saying? Especially when we do it together."
Lil Baby later disclosed in another conversation with 16Bars in 2019 that Gunna had penned the lyrics for his songs in the past. Lil stated that he paid $100 to Gunna, adding that he never recorded them and released them since it was his way of practicing.
On the other hand, Lil Baby created headlines in January last year after he reportedly unfollowed Gunna, who was trending at the time after taking a plea deal in the YSL (Young Slime Life) racketeering case, as per XXL Magazine.
A few months later in June, Gunna had reportedly unfollowed Lil Baby, specifically due to his alleged dispute with record label YSL emerging out of his guilty plea. According to Hip Hop DX, Gunna was taken into custody with 26 others on racketeering charges in May 2022 for their association with YSL, which was accused of being a criminal street gang.
Although Lil's claims in his latest interview have hinted that he is not friends with Gunna anymore, the latter has yet to share his response to the same.
