Well-known singer Linda Nolan, 65, has unexpectedly passed away on January 15, 2025. According to The Express Tribune, Linda died after struggling with breast cancer for a long time and the news of her demise was first revealed by her agent Dermot McNamara.
The outlet stated that Linda was at the Blackpool Victoria Hospital at the time of death, where she was taken on the weekend after being diagnosed with pneumonia. As per Sky News, McNamara said that Nolan was surrounded by her siblings and addressed Linda's contributions to the music industry by saying:
"As a member of The Nolans, one of the most successful girl groups of all time, Linda achieved global success; becoming the first Irish act to sell over a million records worldwide, touring the world and selling over 30 million records."
McNamara mentioned that Linda Nolan's voice and stage presence always left a positive impression on her fans around the world and was able to become an icon of "British and Irish entertainment." Dermot said in the end:
"Her selflessness and tireless commitment to making a difference in the lives of others will forever be a cornerstone of her legacy."
Linda Nolan was taking treatment over the years for her cancer: Health issues and other details explained
The Dublin, Ireland native accumulated a huge fanbase for her flawless work as a singer and actress. She was active since the '70s and was a part of TV shows like Tops of the Pops and Celebrity Big Brother. But outside the music and entertainment industry, she also had to struggle with different health problems.
A report by Sky News in August last year stated that Linda Nolan was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and slowly began spreading to other organs such as the brain, bones, and liver. Back in 2023, Linda appeared for an interview on Good Morning Britain, saying that she had decided to take a new drug that is helpful in brain cancer. She further stated:
"I'm [going to] lose my hair again for the fourth time. So my sister said: 'At least you've got some nice wigs out of it.' We're getting everything and [I've] bought a wheelchair, we're getting stuff ready for the inevitable. Really scary, scary trip to be on, this one."
While speaking to The Mirror last year, Linda Nolan said that her consultant told her the previous year that the regular treatment was not working anymore, which helped to shrink the tumors to a great extent. She recalled that she started crying when her consultant spoke to her and added:
"I had feared something was wrong. My balance has been getting worse and my memory – my sisters have to prompt me when I got lost in the middle of a sentence."
Linda mentioned that she knew about the possibility of hair loss due to the drug and told her consultant that she was still ready to shave it for another time after already doing it a few more times in the past.
