Outlander star Sam Heughan shared his excitement about Taylor Swift's upcoming Edinburgh, Scotland performance. Swift is set to perform at the Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh from Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 9. The Scottish actor took to Instagram on Wednesday, June 5, to release a clip welcoming Taylor to Scotland.
The actor also shared in the caption to his clip that his Outlander character James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser was a Swiftie. Swift's Ready For It? played in the background to Heughan's video as he stated in the clip while still dressed like his character:
"We're going to go see Taylor Swift play in Scotland and I think most of the (Outlander) cast is going,"
The actor joked:
"She obviously doesn't know this, but when she comes to Scotland and she sees me in the audience, she's going to forget all about ... him [Travis Kelce] and fall for a man in a ginger wig. How can she resist? She's going to shake him off and take me out instead. I'm really excited!"
Taylor Swift has been dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, since last year. The duo went public with their relationship in September 2023, with each of them making appearances at the other's games and concerts. Sam Heughan, on the other hand, was spotted holding hands with an unidentified woman in May, according to People magazine.
Heughan's Instagram reel went viral and amassed over 3.6 million views, at the time of writing this article. The actor's comments section was flooded by Swifties who took a liking to his sense of humor. One Instagram user joked about Heughan trying to make an appearance in Taylor Swift's music catalog.
Fans hoped that Heughan and Taylor Swift would get to meet each other during the concerts, with some even suggesting the actor give her friendship bracelets, the same way Travis Kelce initially failed but later succeeded in getting Swift's attention. A few Instagram users even urged Heughan to invite Swift over to the set of Outlander. Here are a few reactions to Sam Heughan's Instagram reel:
"You are too funny and probably right. How will she resist ?🤣🤣🤣🤣Red hair and all.", joked one user who went by @gpack1962.
"I love it when famous people are fans of other famous people. We are all just human after all. I hope you get to meet her in person, Sam. Either way; ENJOY!! 😍", thought @firstwife71, a second Instagram user.
"She needs an invitation to the set and perhaps a minor part in the last season. Well it's worth a try 🤷♀️ 😂", joked @5amantha.miller.
"If Taylor Swift has seen outlander, it’s in the bag", @ ggooba1 humorously hoped.
Some Instagram users even started giving Sam Heughan a few suggestions.
"Make her a friendship bracelet, Sam - I hear that works. 😉🫶Make her a friendship bracelet, Sam - I hear that works. 😉🫶", suggested @joannaboonenycone.
"i’m s**tting myself this is too funny", swore @breejstrachan.
"I mean....why does she have to choose", @calib_rarianmom joked.
"Well baby, now we got baaaad blood", sang @jamie.roy_.
