On Thursday, January 16, Michael Tait announced his exit from the Christian rock band Newsboys after working as a singer for them since 2009. Tait said he is leaving the band in an Instagram post, saying that his life changed many years ago when he became an important part of Newsboys.

Tait further stated that he had been on an “amazing journey” with the group worldwide, performing for people of all ages and backgrounds. In the statement, Michael Tait also referred to his decision to exit the group, calling it the right choice for himself, and continued:

“As we reminded in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” I truly believe these words and although nervous about the future, I am excited about what it holds for both myself, and for Newsboys, as we all seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.”

As per Celebrity Net Worth, Michael Tait boasts a net worth of $5 million. He expressed gratitude to all the members, recalling the time they spent with each other by sharing the prayers, talks, and different moments “on and off stage.” The post reads:

“You are my family, and always will be. I know Newsboys will carry on doing incredible things to God’s kingdom with strength and purpose, and I can’t wait to cheer you on whole you do. To the Newsboys crew… quite literally the best of the best… I want you to know that you are truly part of my family too. I am so grateful for each of you.”

Towards the end, Michael had a message for his fans, saying that he loves them since their support has always been everything to him. He thanked them for the response they gave to the music of his group and added:

“You’ve inspired me more than you know. I hope you’ll continue to support my brothers as they continue on in the Newsboys mission. My heart remains focused on spreading hope and love in everything I do.”

Michael Tait has accumulated his wealth from his career in the music industry, Newsboys members and other details explained

The Washington, D.C. native became a popular face for being associated with different bands over the years. His work in the musical world has also been his main source of income, considering that the albums to which he contributed his vocals were commercially successful.

Notably, Newsboys is the group that made Michael Tait famous among the audience. As per Jesus Freak Hideout, the news of his arrival to the group was first revealed in March 2009 as a replacement for Peter Furler. The manager of the group, Wes Campbell, also said at the time:

“No one can replace Peter, but we know Michael will bring a new attitude, energy and vocal style that will thrill our audience. To be able to continue a world class show and still have Peter behind the scenes guiding the career and making of newsboys music is a huge opportunity for all of us.”

Speaking to Jesus Freak Hideout at the same time, Michael Tait expressed his happiness for being able to play with Newsboys, saying that his first show was attended by almost 12,000 people and he is “completely wrapped in love and support” by the fans of the band.

The group’s current members include Jody Davis, Duncan Phillips, Jeff Frankenstein, and Adam Agee. However, many others played with the band over the years and had to leave for different reasons. Among them, Peter Furler remained a part of them for the longest period and continued playing even after Tait joined in.

There was Corey Pryor, who exited the band to join his wife in a group, SoZo. Corey Pryor was a keyboardist in the group for around five years. Apart from Michael Tait and Peter Furler, John James also contributed as a vocalist in the past. There have also been many guitarists playing for the group, including George Perdikis, Phil Yates, Jonathan Geange, Vernon Bishop, Bryan Olesen, Phil Joel, and Paul Colman.

Michael Tait has even worked with other groups like DC Talk and Tait. The former was established by Tait himself along with Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max Smith. They released five albums, and all of them managed to reach the top of the charts. However, Tait was only active for six years and released two albums, Empty and Lose This Life.
