Over the past few hours, Trippie Redd has taken to X to air out his concerns regarding users ruining his album rollouts by consistently leaking new music.
Trippie's last solo full-length studio album was delivered to streaming in November 2023, titled Saint Michael V2. Since then, the rapper has released an EP with MGK titled genre: sadboy and a slew of singles, including his most recent collaboration with KSI on Thick Of It.
The rapper delivered his take on leakers ruining the music experience for fans after a supposed "Trippie Redd fan account" posted a one-and-a-half-minute-long clip of an unreleased song that featured a guest appearance from Justin Bieber.
Trippie went on a rant on X, expressing annoyance with his music constantly being leaked online. He implied that this may result in him not securing features from artists like Justin Bieber anymore.
"If I don't get another song with Bieber yall fault wtf," Trippie stated.
Redd highlighted the difficulties he faced during the rollouts for his "last four albums," citing instances of the complete project being leaked online a week before the LP's official release date.
Individuals commented on Trippie Redd's tweets, with many sharing their thoughts and opinions on the subject of "leaking." Several users accused the rapper of not maintaining a proper system to secure and prevent hackers from stealing his music.
"Still don't get the point of leaking, that s**t gotta he hella discouraging to artists cus its like everytime you make something someone else just takes it and puts it out before so it kinda makes it hard for you to even do anythin w it," a user sympathizes with Trippie Redd.
"Stop storing your s**t on the cloud then lol the fact that it took you 4 albums to realise that," a user stated.
"It's that simple. All the artists have to do is store it on a hard drive offline and don't send it to ANYONE. The moment it makes it's way on cloud your basically asking for it to get leaked. The fact huge artists don't do this is crazy. Also only doing features in person helps." Another chimed in.
"Use a HDD and not the cloud. Cloud emails easy to get hacked." Another user suggested.
Trippie's fanbase was seen in the comments citing issues with the rapper's release schedules as well. Many claimed that the rapper's decision to delay and scrap singles that were teased and promised to be released factors into why hackers have started leaking Redd's music.
"The album s**t not cool at all but why care when songs you'll never release leak like you not doin nun wit em bro," a fan stated.
"Yes but some of the leaks are your best music so I'm glad they get leaked cuz you don't drop them," said another.
"Honestly trip there is songs we been begging for, for years. when u learn to drop as consistently as we need and stop ignoring our cries for certain tracks maybe the leaking will stop then," another fan claimed.
Trippie Redd and KSI discuss their new viral single 'Thick Of It'
It's been almost two weeks since KSI released his first single in over two years, titled Thick Of It, featuring a guest verse from Trippie Redd. The record has since gone viral across social media, primarily TikTok, with several users seemingly "clowning" the new song.
The track was delivered to DSPs on October 3, 2024, and was uploaded alongside an official music video directed by KC Locke. Since its release, Thick Of It has generated over 10 million streams on Spotify and over 21 million views on YouTube.
"The trend is to hate me right now - I'm getting clowned left, right and centre - TikTok's been going crazy, X...but it is what it is. It's been nuts. I'm in the trenches, man, but we live another day!" - KSI on the negative reception for 'Thick Of It.'
The duo were reportedly contacted by reporters from Official Charts magazine to discuss and reveal more about their viral single. The interview included fun behind-the-scenes instances from KSI sharing his thoughts on Drake reposting the song on Instagram to Trippie Redd claiming he's written "200 songs."
Trippie also highlighted his reason for wanting to work with KSI on Thick Of It was from the track's "vibe" being similar to music from the "2016-17 era." The rapper also claimed similarities between their new collaboration and artists like XXXTENTACION and Juice WRLD.
"The vibe definitely [reminds me of] that 2016/2017 era; the music me, Juice WRLD and XXXTENTACION were doing already. It feels like that pocket, it made me feel good that somebody's still doing this sound. It's fire, that s**t was hard." - Trippie Redd states.
Trippie Redd has fueled the excitement for new material after revealing he's written over 200 songs in the past "four months." With his recent Justin Bieber collaboration leaking online and his single with KSI going viral across social media, the anticipation for the rapper's next release has reached an all-time high.
