A tweet about an upcoming Drake look-alike contest posted earlier today, December 12, 2024, has gone viral on X. Posted by a user named @certifiedjared, the tweet had a screenshot of an Instagram DM conversation attached to it.

In the screenshot, the conversation appeared to take place between Drake (from his Instagram handle - @champagnepapi) and a user who remained anonymous. The Hotline Bling rapper wrote about adding 10 bands to the look-alike contest as its main prize, which supposedly meant $10,000, as the user mentioned in the caption.

Netizens reacted to the tweet, claiming that the One Dance rapper would've offered $50K as the main prize six years ago and also suggested that Drizzy now needs to watch his expenses. One user wrote:

"2018 Drake would’ve added 50K. Bro gotta watch his spending now"

Some X users remarked that the "fall-off" should be televised for all to watch.

"That streamer that was on Ak stream last night about to crash out," commented an X user.
"This fall off must be televised," replied another one.
"Even my goat messages got insane presence," wrote a third user.

Meanwhile, others called the entire exchange "sad." They claimed that Drake was doing the contest following his loss in the biggest beef of all time, possibly referring to the Kendrick-Drake feud.

"38 and showing up as a 8 year old. Why he trolling like a b***h aint he tired?" added a fourth user.
"That's a weird message to another man Jared. Lol," commented a fifth X user.

A SecretToronto article published on December 9, 2024, reported that the Drake look-alike contest is going to take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024, between 4-6 pm at the Apt. 200, 1034 Queen Street (W). The participants of the contest will be competing for a Certified Toronto Mans Prize, which includes a bottle of Hennessy, a pack of Backwoods, and other surprise goodies.

The Drake look-alike contest is an outcome of an ongoing celebrity look-alike contest trend

The announcement of a Drake look-alike contest stemmed from the viral trend of similar celebrity look-alike contests. It all started on October 27, 2024, when a large crowd of Timothee Chalamet fans gathered at the Washington Square Park in Manhattan, New York City.

The fans were all dressed as the Wonka actor to participate in a look-alike contest hosted by YouTuber Anthony Po. He offered a prize of $50 to the winner, resulting in thousands of Timothee fans RSVPing to the event online.

BBC reported on October 28, 2024, that Chalamet also made a surprise appearance at the venue and was spotted posing for pictures with fans. However, the contest was shut down by police as they responded to "an unscheduled demonstration" at Washington Square Park.

According to the news outlet, some people were taken into custody at the event and were later released with summons.

As the trend went global, another contest was hosted at Dublin's Smithfield Square for the title of best Paul Mescal look-alike on November 7, 2024.

Two days later, Katrina Mirpuri, a London-based journalist, organized a Harry Styles look-alike contest in London's SoHo Square for a prize of £50. The event attracted over 100 spectators and 12 participants on November 9, 2024.

On November 10, 2024, a crowd of South Asian men gathered at Dolores Park in San Francisco to emulate actor Dev Patel. Jaipreet Hundal, a resident of San Jose, California, won the contest and received a $50 prize.

Seven days later, two look-alike contests were hosted in Brooklyn and Chicago - for fans of Zayn Malik and Jeremy Allen White, respectively.

Drizzy fans are anticipating whether or not Drake will make a surprise appearance at his look-alike contest in Toronto, much like Timothee Chalamet.
