On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on September 4, 2024, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson shared candid insights about his personal life, including his choice to remain celibate and unmarried.

Known for hits like In Da Club and his savvy business ventures, the 49-year-old rapper and entrepreneur, explained how his decision has brought focus and clarity, especially in balancing his career and relationships.

While discussing his lifestyle with host Stephen Colbert, the rapper said that he is currently celibate. He also revealed that he is content with his single status. Explaining how abstaining from romantic distractions has helped him prioritize his personal growth and professional achievements, the rapper said,

"Listen, when you calm down, you can focus."

50 Cent says "Money and relationships complicate things"

Stephen Colbert, 60, asked the rap mogul why he would choose celibacy, given his wealth and success, questioning what he would do with his fortune if not sharing it with someone special. 50 Cent responded that money can often complicate relationships, especially when fame and fortune attract people for the wrong reasons. He explained,

"That's when things start getting complicated, things start getting confusing because people come in for different reasons."

The rapper humorously reflected on his experience with dating, sharing how he assesses potential romantic interests. Noting how superficial attractions can cloud better judgment, he said,

"If you go on a date but you have no interest in anything, I can see you now. I said, ‘God damn, girl, you fine, but you ain’t got nothing going on.'"

When Colbert suggested that romantic desire could intoxicate a person’s judgment, the rapper wholeheartedly agreed. "Absolutely," he said, acknowledging that romance has the potential to derail focus and interfere with personal goals.

When asked whether he had ever been married, 50 Cent confirmed that he had never taken that step and feels confident in his choice.

"I am safe. I’m not a happy hostage. I’m here. I’m free.”

Despite making mistakes in other areas of his life, he clarified that avoiding marriage has not been one of them.

50 Cent shared that without a romantic partner, he has been dedicating more time to self-improvement and fitness. He rightfully boasted about his progress in the gym, stating he can now lift 105-pound dumbbells.

Getting into a playful conversation, Colbert then teased the rapper about his evening routine, imagining him watching Wheel of Fortune and going to bed early. The rapper responded with humor, saying,

"You make it sound like the worst thing ever."

Over the years, 50 Cent has had high-profile relationships with well-known celebrities. He dated singer Ciara and comedian Chelsea Handler, and most recently was linked to former model Jamira "Cuban Link" Haines, although their current status is unclear.

The rapper has two children: son Marquise Jackson with Shaniqua Tompkins and son Sire Jackson with model Daphne Joy.

During a 2023 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Chelsea Handler, who dated the rapper briefly in 2011, reflected on their relationship. She referred to him as her "favorite ex," saying,

"I love 50 Cent, he was fun. He was just a sweetheart and he was fun to be around."

Though he's not currently looking for love, 50 Cent remains one of the most influential figures in entertainment, with a legacy that continues to grow beyond the music world.
