Rapper 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) has recently commented on the barrage of criminal cases filed against Diddy, saying that the rapper's beef with the liquor giant Diageo turned the civil cases into criminal charges. According to 50 Cent, the rapper's push for greater ownership within the company caused problems with Diageo.

In May 2023, Diddy started a legal battle with Diageo for allegedly not marketing their Ciroc vodka and DeLeon tequila. The music mogul accused the liquor brand of not giving those two products enough importance, compared to the other brands in their portfolio. This lawsuit backfired as it started causing multiple legal troubles for the rapper, ultimately sending him to jail.

In a conversation at Invest Fest 2024 (posted by DJ Akademiks on Instagram), 50 Cent compared his experience working with Bean Centauri with Diddy's legal debacle. The rapper explained how things get complicated when stars demand ownership of certain brands.

“It is not so cool when you start to own things. So I made a lot of money with them too. Like there’s a point they did a deal that mirrored what Puffy’s deal with Diageo was for Ciroc,” said 50 Cent.

He continued:

“Don’t think that the civil case doesn’t turn into a criminal case faster because he’s making them uncomfortable. That’s a big part of it.”

Beam Centuari's partnership with 50 Cent minted millions, but things started getting complicated when long-term ownership was involved. He recalled this experience to talk about Diddy's problems with Diageo.

Diddy and Diageo ended their partnership after the legal dispute was resolved. Both issued a statement which stated:

“Sean Combs and Diageo have now agreed to resolve all disputes between them. Mr. Combs has withdrawn all of his allegations about Diageo and will voluntarily dismiss his lawsuits against Diageo with prejudice.”

50 Cent concluded the conversation by cautioning aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to enter major businesses. Hinting at the power dynamics of major players, 50 Cent highlighted the difficulties faced by new players in the industry.

50 Cent is currently on a media tour to promote his new book, The Accomplice. After an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the G-Unit rapper posted a photo with the hostess and also took a shot at the music mogul, Diddy.

“Here I am keeping good company with @DrewBarrymoreTV and I don’t have 1,000 bottles of lube at the house,” 50 Cent captioned his photo with Drew Barrymore.

The 1000 bottles of lube is a reference to a recent development in which federal officers confiscated over a thousand bottles of lubricants and oils from Diddy's Miami and Los Angeles homes.

According to a report by Billboard, Diddy was arrested on Monday (September 16) for charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Additionally, he faced prior charges of forced labor, arson, kidnapping, and bribery.

“For decades, Sean Combs … abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct. To do so, Combs relied on the employees, resources and the influence of his multi-faceted business empire that he led and controlled,” read the legal indictment.

The music mogul will face a minimum of 15 years and a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, if convicted.
