Earlier this month, 50 Cent and Lionsgate collaborated to start a new channel called 50 Cent Action. The rapper's companies, G-Unit Film and Television alongside G-Unit Studios are joining the production company and would be streaming the best projects from Lionsgate, such as Power.
Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent, has added this new channel to his list of other ventures, including the enhanced water drink called Formula 50. While it has been around two weeks since the announcement of the new channel came out on August 1, 2024, netizens have begun posting their reactions on different platforms.
People specifically took to the comments section of a post shared by Curtis on August 13, 2024, where he posted a photo of himself alongside the logo of the new channel. The logos of G-Unit and Lionsgate were also included together, and the caption reads:
"50centAction coming soon it's lit turn down for what? @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi."
Cent's fans were spotted expressing their excitement for the arrival of the new channel, with one of the users writing:
Similar reactions continued in the comments, with a person writing that although the channel has promised free streaming, they might start charging after a year. However, a majority of the followers congratulated 50 Cent on the new venture, with some expecting a chance to somehow showcase their skills through different projects on the channel.
Several other fans expressed similar sentiments and lauded the rapper's move on Instagram.
50 Cent's new channel will also bring the best movies produced by Lionsgate
As mentioned, Curtis is collaborating with Lionsgate through G-Unit Film and Television and G-Unit Studios. In a recent statement, 50 Cent shared that the channel aims to bring a different kind of content that is full of action. The channel will additionally air films such as The Expendables. He added:
"I look forward to working closely with all the FAST platforms to make this a successful channel."
In a July 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Curtis was questioned about what audiences could expect from the channel. He said at the time that the format would be different compared to Starz. Notably, he has portrayed Kanan Stark in Power and Power Book II: Ghost, and both shows were released on Starz.
Curtis said that his channel would be free to stream with ads, and audiences would get to enjoy new and premium content. Curtis further stated:
"I don't want to see me like I see my people on Tubi. I'll make sure the quality of everything is there. The platform has to be able to fit my original material. So you'll see the Power series – those universes will be there. BMF now has spinoff shows coming. Give me one year and I'll be ranked the highest FAST channel."
On the other hand, Jim Packer, the president of worldwide television distribution for Lionsgate, also expressed his happiness in joining 50 Cent for a new channel. He said in another statement that Curtis' projects have always been full of action and they are looking forward to the success of their collaboration.
While Curtis has not announced any new album, he will portray an important role in the action crime drama film, Den of Thieves: Pantera. The film is scheduled to arrive on the big screen on January 10, 2025.
