Nine inmates of the MDC Brooklyn prison, where Sean Diddy Combs is currently held, were charged with a series of violent attacks that took place between April and August 2024. The Metropolitan Detention Center is the only federal prison in New York City and is notorious for its poor living conditions, safety issues, and health hazards.

The charges came to light after the Justice Department and Bureau of Prisons begun pushing to solve certain problems in the MDC Brooklyn Center and hold perpertrators accountable for their crimes. As such, nine inmates were charged with violent crimes.

Andrew Simpson and Devone Thomas were charged with murder in a detention facility for allegedly killing their inmmate Uriel White on June 7, 2024. Jamaul Aziz, James Bazemore, and Alberto Santiago were charged with premeditated murder for the death of inmate Edwin Cordero on July 17.

Four other inmates were also found guilty of non-fatal assault charges. Two of them were charged due to an icepick fight, while one of them reportedly punched a correctional officer.

After the charges came to light, US Attorney Breon Peace mentioned in a statement that such violence in jails will not be tolerated. He said:

"Violence will not be tolerated in our federal jails. The charges should serve as a warning to those who would engage in criminal conduct behind bars, and anyone else who facilitates those crimes: your conduct will be exposed, and you will be held accountable."

The Brooklyn federal jail currently holds a number of high-profile prisoners, including Sean Diddy Combs and Sam Bankman-Fried. Combs was arrested in New York on September 16 after facing three charges of s*x trafficking and racketeering.

The rapper's lawyers appealed for bail, owing to MDC's bad living conditions, but the pleas were denied.

Sean Diddy Combs has reportedly been taken off suicide watch at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York. The rapper has been held at the federal jail since September 16, when he was arrested after facing three charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Combs was kept under suicide watch since his arrest. The rapper's attorney, Marc Agnifilo, claimed that it was only a precautionary measure and that Diddy was not suicidal at all.

The Bad Boy Records founder has been visited by several of his family members over the last few days as well.

It all began in November 2023, when Diddy's ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against the rapper, accusing him of r*pe and s*xual abuse. Ventura and Combs settled the lawsuit outside of court a day later.

However, since then, multiple men and women accused the hip-hop mogul of alleged s*xual harrassment, r*pe and physical abuse.

In the following months, CNN released disturbing footage from 2016 that showed Diddy physically abusing Ventura in a hotel lobby.

Federal giants also conducted raids in the rapper's Los Angeles and Miami mansions in connection to his s*x trafficking charges. The hip-hop mogul was finally arrested on September 16 at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Midtown.

As per Daily News, Diddy's seven children "briefly" spoke to their father in jail and have been in shock since his arrest. Meanwhile, the rapper's attorneys have been appealing for bail but their requests were denied by two judges twice.

Combs' attorneys put forward a convincing deal, including a $50 million compensation and electronic monitoring.

However, judges denied their requests twice, owing to security reasons. Diddy is currently expected to remain in custody until his trial. Explaining the decision to deny Combs bail, Judge Andrew Carter said in a statement:

"The government has proven a danger of obstruction and witness tampering and a danger to the community in general."

The feds claimed that Diddy has previously been accused of witness intimidation and tampering of evidence. The rapper allegedly recorded videos of s*xual activities, dubbed as his infamous "freak-offs" and used them to blackmail witnesses from going to the police.

Meanwhile, former MDC inmate Larry Levine recently claimed that Diddy has been receiving "special privileges" in the MDC. Speaking on the show Banfield, he said:

“My information from my source is that they’re letting him shower almost every day. It could cause some problems with other inmates as far as jealousy and special privileges. … Apparently, some of the staff is sneaking food into him.”

As per Combs' attorney Agnifilo, the rapper will testify in his own defense during his trial.
