Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s beef took over social media feeds in the past few weeks. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. recently claimed that the Lamar's Not Like Us (Drake-diss) track is eligible for a Grammy nomination. On June 25, TMZ spoke to the Grammy executive at LAX, who revealed that he has noticed the drastic impact that Lamar's Not Like Us track has had on the pop-culture history. Mason Jr. further said:
“Obviously it’s a hot record, it’s amazing artistry. Great writing, the talent on that record, it’s incredible.”
The Recording Academy executive also shared that Lamar has a good chance of being nominated for the song due to its “quality.” He said:
“You got an artist that’s been nominated before. He’s been successful with the organization. I don’t see any reason why it couldn’t be.”
When asked whether the fact that it is a diss-track could affect its nomination, Mason Jr. dismissed the idea by stating that voters simply “appreciate greatness.”
“That’s a relevant record, it’s impactful on so many levels. I like to believe the Academy members recognize that,” Mason Jr. stated.

It is evident that rap fans thoroughly enjoy the Drake-Diss track, Not Like Us. Kendrick Lamar played the song five times at his recent The Pop Out: Ken And Friends concert.
During the event, Lamar brought together 25 music industry legends from the West Coast to celebrate unity at the Juneteenth event. Some included Tyler, the Creator, YG, Roddy Rich, Ty Dolla $ign, Steve Lacy, Dom Kennedy, and DJ Mustard, among others.
As the song topped Billboard music charts, he also created visuals for the diss-track on Saturday, June 22.
The music video was filmed in Kendrick Lamar's hometown of Compton, California. Some of places featured include Compton City Hall, Nickerson Gardens and Tam’s Burgers, among others.
