Costco has responded to the claims made by Diddy’s lawyers as they claimed that the 1000 bottles found at Diddy’s mansion during the raid at the rapper’s house in Miami and Beverly Hills in March, this year were brought from Costco in bulk.
Diddy's lawyer claimed that the bottles were used for "freak offs" and noted that there are "Costcos in every place where he has a home."
As Costco’s name made its way into the headlines, the giant company stepped in and responded to the claims made by the lawyers of the arrested rapper. A spokesperson spoke to TMZ and claimed:
“None of the Costco stories in the US carry baby oil.”
The statement by the retailer not only left people questioning the quantity of baby oils once again but also brought in many reactions from the masses on the topic. As an X user, @PopCrave posted about the same on the platform, an X user commented and said:
“It’s so crazy that a Fortune 500 company had to step in and set the story straight.”
On the other hand, several others also posted their questions regarding the fiasco, with some hilarious reactions:
“That's quite the clarification! It’s interesting how quickly rumors can spread. Costco’s response puts that speculation to rest. Diddy’s choice of products is definitely raising some eyebrows!” stated one on the post.
“Diddy lawyer didn’t help his case at all,” added another X user.
“Costco sells COFFINS!! but baby oil is where they draw the line?” commented another user.
Meanwhile other comments also read:
“Costco didn't want anything to do with it,” wrote another social media user.
“His lawyer thought he was being slick with that lie,” joked another.
“They must of wiped their stores clean of it, just like celebrities wiped their social media accounts,” another X user added.
“I think Americans buy in bulk” — Diddy’s lawyer's statement explored as Costco denies stocking baby oil in their stores across the country
While Costco’s spokesperson declared that the retailer does not deal in baby oils, it is worth noting that the whole fiasco started after the authorities found 1000 bottles of baby oil and lubricants from Diddy’s houses. However, Diddy’s lawyers spoke to TMZ and claimed that he used to buy in bulk, like most Americans.
“He buys in bulk. I think they have Costcos in every place where he has a home. I think it was a lot. I mean, there is a Costco right down the street. I think Americans buy in bulk, as we know I don’t know where the number ‘1,000’ came from. I can’t imagine it’s thousands of bottles of baby oil and lube, and I’m not really sure what the baby oil has to do with anything.”
Furthermore, he continued:
“I guess — I don’t know what you need a thousand for, One bottle of baby oil goes a long way. I don’t know what you need a thousand for. Diddy has a big house. He buys in bulk. I think they have Costcos in every place where he has a home. I mean, have you sat in a parking lot of a Costco and see what people walk out of there with?”
On the other hand, The New York Post also reported that Costco does not have baby oil listed on their website. Furthermore, they do not have the product in other rival giant retailers, leaving more questions about where the bottles came from, and for what purpose.
For the unversed, Diddy was arrested on September 16, 2024, in New York, after a grand jury indictment. The arrest took place months after his houses were raided in March, following several complaints from women claiming that the rapper assaulted them s*xually and physically, and often forced them in drugs and asked them to indulge in explicit activities with s*x workers.
After he was arrested on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, assault, and more, his lawyers submitted a bail package, consisting of a bail plea, bail bond worth $50 million, along with his passport and other documents.
However, as the prosecutors alleged that Diddy was a “flight risk,” the judge denied bail, and the rapper continues to remain behind the bars.
