Country music superstar Tim McGraw announced the passing of his beloved uncle, Henry "Hank" McGraw, at 81.
On July 10, 2024, Tim penned a lengthy post on his Instagram account, suggesting that his uncle was a "renaissance" man. He further reflected on the Hank's impact in the McGraws' life calling him "patriarch" of the family.
"This weekend, we lost the patriarch of the McGraw family. Our beloved "Uncle Hank," he began. "A true renaissance man," Tim added.
Tim's post mentioned that his uncle passed away on July 6, 2024. However, he did not reveal much information about his passing or health scare.
Hank McGraw was an outfielder, catcher, and first baseman. In this career, he played in twelve minor leagues, including four at AAA. In 1961, Hank became the first player to sign with the New York Mets. He was born on January 21, 1943, and was an older brother to the late Tug McGraw, an American baseball player.

On Wednesday, Tim announced the demise of his uncle, who passed away last weekend. He wrote a lengthy post alongside two pictures of his uncle.
The first shows a photograph of Hank, in which he is wearing a sweater, holding a cigarette in his hand, and leaning towards his left side. The second picture is from his baseball career and features the time he played for the New York Mets. Hank can be seen wearing a jacket that says New York 48, holding a ball in his right hand, and aiming at a distance.
Tim McGraw expressed his deep sorrow over the loss and suggested that his uncle was an "incredible" man who could light up the atmosphere with his charisma.
"He was just an incredible man. He had a way of lighting up any room he walked into without trying," the singer began.
My Best Friend artist further added that Hank was an honest and truthful man.
"He was a no-bs, straight shooter. Honest and truthful, even if it hurt," he added.
After describing him as a "true renaissance man", Tim McGraw reflected on his career, suggesting that he played baseball professionally for eleven years and was able to craft leather and bead.
"All American high school athlete, 11 years professional baseball, played guitar, sang beautifully, was an incredible leather and bead craftsman," Tim wrote.
Tim McGraw continued his tribute to his uncle and added that he was a good friend to all he knew. A man with an "open heart" who told the best stories to Tim and his family.
"And more than that, he was a good friend to all who knew him, and he loved with an open heart… Aw man, and he told the best stories!" he added.
The American artist further wrote suggesting that his uncle, Hank, had a massive presence in their family and will continue to influence them.
"He was and continues to be a huge presence in the lives of our family and his friends," the singer added.
Explaining further his influence in the family, Tim McGraw suggested that his legacy will be passed down through the McGraws, and future generations will celebrate it even more.
"He was a legend, and that legend will grow with each passing year in future generations of McGraws!" Tim added.
Lastly, Tim McGraw noted that while he has countless stories to share about his beloved uncle, he will refrain from recounting them all now and will keep his memories alive.
"We will keep his memories alive!! He loved, he was so very loved, and he will be terribly missed. So much more to say about him. But I will stop for now. ❤️ U Uncle!!," Tim concluded.
