The music video of The Boy Is Mine opens with Grande sitting and watching a press conference that reporters were conducting, the roles of whom were played by Brandy and Monica. The duo sang the original The Boy Is Mine back in May 1998. The song became so popular that it topped the US Billboard Hot 100 constantly for 13 weeks from the time it was released.

The 1998 song further inspired Ariana Grande's recent song, which excited fans so much. Returning to the song, after the first scene, fans could see Penn Badgley playing the role of a mayor who came up with a proposal to eliminate the vermin problem in the city. The mayor proposed letting cats loose on the roads to deal with the issue.

Ariana Grande could then be seen coming up with an idea of transforming herself into a Cat Woman and entering the mayor's residence. She could then be seen seducing the mayor and injecting him with a love potion.

The song was the third one from her album Eternal Sunshine, which had already made it to the Billboard 200 chart. Fans were quite excited to see the singer and the iconic duo Brandy and Monica in the music video.
