Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was allegedly killed on February 19, 2020, at his rented Hollywood Hills house. Recently, one of the co-defendants in the case, Blockstar, was interviewed by No Jumper host Adam22.
In the interview, after the host asked Blockstar to reveal details about the day that Pop Smoke was killed, he initially denied it. The co-defendant later claimed that it was supposed a robbery and nothing more than that.
Meanwhile, the interview with Blockstar did not sit well with the fans. One fan took to X and wrote,
"I don't understand why the mainstream media is going out of their way to promote pop smokes killer. Adam 22 is a diabolical man for this."
"Adam 22 is certified clown why the hell would you give Pop Smoke’s k*ller a platform to speak on some shit like he got an album dropping," added another netizen on X.
"Adam 22 is the Feds…idk how this isn’t inherently obvious. Regarding this goofy going around doing a media tour about Pop Smoke’s murder…we need to bring back decorum," read one tweet.
Several others too expressed their concerns with the interview.
Blockstar's interview on rapper Pop Smoke's 2020 murder explored
Blockstar, during a podcast interview, discussed his background, mentioning he's from South Central Los Angeles and grew up in Compton. He admitted to having a history of fighting since school, leading to him changing schools. He recounted several troubled instances from his teenage years.
The interview, uploaded on YouTube, sparked criticism from fans who felt he shouldn't have been given a platform due to past allegations against him. Recently, Blockstar criticized No Jumper and other media outlets for exploiting his name for their own gain.
Blockstar also made it to the headlines recently, after he attempted to gain freedom, by trying to cut off his ankle monitor. A month back, he received a four-year juvenile sentence for pleading guilty in the 2020 murder. This decision, however, didn't sit well with fans and eventually led to threats. A footage surfaced on the internet, which captured Blockstar's probation officer trying to get him relocated for safety purposes.
In 2020, Vulture reported that when the alleged house invasion happened in February, while there were other people in the house, the shooter found Pop Smoke alone. In July of the same year, cops detained five suspects out of whom three were adult men while the rest were juveniles.
Fans are not awaiting for any further updates in the trials and are hoping for early stabilization of the situation.
