One Dance singer Drake is no stranger to controversy and recently he made the headlines by following Grammy-winning songwriter Siedah Garett on Instagram.
Fans who have been tracking Drizzy's social media footprints to get hints about his next release speculated that the God's Plan rapper might allegedly sample Siedah Garrett's co-written song Man in the Mirror in his next song.
However, podcaster DJ Akademiks dispelled the rumors by replying to a tweet that shared the possibility of Drizzy following Siedah Garrett for his next single. In his tweet, DJ Akademiks mentioned:
"Not true."
DJ Akademis' reply garnered a response from multiple fans for talking on behalf of Drizzy most times. One of the fans compared Akademiks to Drizzy's girlfriend and commented:
"Ak, u speaking for Drake is kinda getting weird crodie," another fan said.
"Ak drakes spokes person now?," one X user said.
"Akademiks stop acting like Drake manager," another X user said.
Additionally, some fans also trolled Drizzy and made comments on his career.
"Drake is washed buddy," an X user mentioned.
One of the fans also mentioned that Drizzy's career was over when Kendrick Lamar sang Not Like Us at The Pop Out: Ken & Friends in California:
However, Drizzy's fans also showcased joy at the possibility of the rapper releasing something new by sampling the 1988 song Man in the Mirror by Michael Jackson.

Since the rap battle between Kendrick and Drizzy, there have been hints from the Hotline Bling rapper surrounding the release of new tracks. In May 2024, the rapper took to Instagram and posted a cryptic update on his stories by mentioning "Good times. Summer vibes up next" with the photo of a knight standing in front of an army.
The fans speculated that Drizzy was trying to showcase how he is trying to battle everything against him by himself, while the caption suggested he might release new music.
Moreover, the rapper hinted at releasing a new song recently when he posted an Instagram story on July 3, 2024, to wish rapper PARTYNEXTDOOR on his birthday. In the Instagram story, Drizzy stated:
"More life to the late night serander 6 side sound creator owl gang crusader melodies that persuade her baby making music to put her in labour none greater @partynextdoor stay tuned real soon."
The recent Instagram story also led to fans speculating if the Passionfruit singer was hinting at releasing a song in collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR.
Additionally, one of Drizzy's loyal supporters, DJ Akademiks recently announced that the rapper was going to put out new music via a tweet. On July 9, 2024, DJ Akademiks took to X (formerly Twitter) stating that the people who have acting like Nonstop rapper is finished should bookmark his post for 6 months from now.
Speaking on behalf of Drizzy, Akademiks mentioned that they don't want such people near themselves. In another tweet from the same date, DJ Akademiks announced:
"and yes.. enjoy all the other noise and bs.. Drake new music otw. and its fye.... trust."
The Push Ups rapper recently collaborated with Camila Cabello on her latest album C, XOXO, and with Sexyy Red on her new single U My Everything. However, the rapper has not officially announced anything about a new album or single yet.
