Eminem has referred to Machine Gun Kelly on his latest album The Death Of Slim Shady Coup de Grâce. However, this time it wasn't a diss and more of a reckoning with his past.

In the track Guilty Conscience 2, the rapper has taken names of several artists including Machine Gun Kelly, Christopher Reeve, Will Smith, and Nick Cannon. The lyrics read:

"God, you piece of s**t, that does it (Uh-oh, wait). Yeah, b***h, this is for him (What?). Christopher, MGK, Nick, and for Limp Bizkit and them..."

In the track, he could be heard arguing with himself as well as Slim Shady, his alter ego, to conclude whether he was right in involving in such beef previously. Fans took to social media to react to Eminem's references to the artists. One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter):

"I took this as an apology to everyone he's beefed with but maybe I misinterpreted the lyrics."
"You didn’t understand. It’s a 2 way perspective. Marshall is squashing the beefs with everyone while Slim is saying F that," one person said.
"I take this song as an apology," another person said.
"This song in particular is an apology song! Even the jelly roll line. He actually is friends with JR and has “save me” as part of his album!" one netizen commented.

A number of netizens, however, believed that Eminem was in fact dissing MGK. One user wrote on X:

"Yup totally another diss lmao."
"They’ve both been throwing shots for years now. As a fan of both, I enjoy it," another fan added.

Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly's beef explained

In 2012, 22-year-old Machine Gun Kelly spoke about then-16-year-old Hailie, Eminem's daughter in an X post. MGK reportedly wrote in a tweet:

"ok so I just sawpicture's of Eminem's daughter... andI have to say, sheis hot as f**k, in the most respectful way possible cuz Em is king"

Over many years after that, MGK claimed that the Houdini artist had influenced several media outlets to ban his music because of that tweet. In the 2018 track Not Alike, the rapper dissed Machine Gun Kelly and his lyrics.

MGK then clapped back at the 51-year-old rapper in his track Rap Devil. In the track, he claimed that Eminem asked Diddy to cause damage to MGK's career.

Later, while the artists were targetting each other in diss tracks, the Mockingbird artist spoke to Sway Calloway in September 2018, about the issues with MGK. During the conversation, he said,

"I don’t give a f**k about your career. You think I actually f**kin’ think about you? You know how many f**kin’ rappers that are better than you? You’re not even in the f**kin’ conversation."

Em added that while there was a phase where he wanted to ruin Kelly's career, he chose to give up on it, since according to him, that would have made MGK more famous.

In the interview, he also addressed the speculations of him dissing him due to his comments about Hailie. Eminem claimed that he didn't know about it until quite later.

After the interview, the rapper released Killshot, in 2018, which was a diss track addressing MGK. In the track, he mocked him for his man bun along with his lack of commercial success. Em further dragged Kelly's former partner Halsey into the diss track.

The song was, however, dismissed by Kelly in several interviews, as reported by Billboard on June 3, 2023. However, in 2020, Em again dissed MGK, in Unaccommodating. In the track, he rapped:

"But when they ask me is the war finished with MGK? Of course it is/ I cleansed him of his mortal sins/ I’m God and the Lord forgives/ Even the devil worshippers."

In the 2020 album Music To Be Murdered By, Eminem mentioned Kelly in one of the tracks. In Zeus, the rapper rapped:

"Fairweather, wishy-washy/ She thinks Machine washed me/ Swear to God, man, her favorite rapper wish he'd crossed me."

Over the years, the two artists had gone all out at each other, by releasing a number of diss tracks targetting each other. Eminem's mention of Machine Gun Kelly in his latest track had confused fans too.

While he seemed to have apologized for the beef before in Guilty Conscience 2, he possibly went back at him in Bad One.
