On December 25, rapper Rod Wave shared some clips on his Instagram stories where he could be seen challenging his friend to chug two cups of Don Julio for $10K. For those unaware, Don Julio is a tequila brand that is produced in Mexico.
The video by Rod Wave was soon circulated across other social media platforms. X user @SaycheeseDGTL shared the video and garnered more than 2 million views along with over 23K likes.
It further grabbed the attention of netizens, who flooded the comment section with their views. A lot of them expressed concern and criticized such stunts. A user wrote on the platform:

Another one mentioned:
"I never understood the 'fun' in doing that to your people… Just give them the money or don’t."
"10 bands, but he’s gonna send his friend to the hospital lol," wrote another user.

Several other users also had similar perspectives and believed that it was dangerous to gulp down two cups of tequila. Some, however, believed that it wasn't a difficult task. A user tweeted:

According to its official website, the Don Julio brand offers a variety of tequilas like Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, 70 Cristalino, Alma Miel, Rosado, 1942, Ultima Reserva, and Primavera. All these bottles reportedly have 40% alcohol by volume (ABV).
Rod Wave recently concluded his concert tour named The Last Lap Tour to promote his sixth studio album
Rod Wave was in the middle of his concert tour that began on October 18, 2024 with the show scheduled in Phoenix, Arizona. The final show of the tour happened on December 21, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Over the months, Wave performed in several other cities, including Dallas, Memphis, Baltimore, Atlanta, and Chicago, to name a few.
The tour will again resume next year on January 5, with the first show in Sacramento. Rod Wave will continue the tour till February 20, when the final show is set to be held in Cleveland.
According to an article by Nola published on December 14, Wave's sixth album Last Lap, released in October 2024, was the best in its genre. Some of the popular songs from this album were: Turtle Race, Last Lap, Federal Nightmares, Angel with an Attitude, Waited 2 Late, The Mess They Made, Passport Junkie, Waited 2 Late, Even Love, Fall Fast in Love, and a lot more.
The album even debuted at second rank on the US Billboard 200 chart. About 127,000 units of the album were also sold, making it quite a successful project.
