Rappers Lil Nas X (real name Montero Lamar Hill) and Azealia Banks had a heated war of words this weekend after the latter tweeted that Montero "fell off so hard" on Sunday, October 2, 2024. At one point, Banks insulted Montero's professional and private life.
On October 28, Montero took to his Instagram stories to share Banks' song Out of Space, with the message:
"sending you love azealia. wishing u nothing but guidance and clarity. I want u to chase ur dreams. get on ur s*it. It's the best time period in music for ur art to thrive. idc what u f**k sh*t u say about me. I wanna see u win and shine your light. u can drop this internet bully act at any time. Ur fans love u. we love u."
As news of Lil Nas X's story spread, internet users were quick to react, with one stating:
Netizens continued to praise Montero for his mature reaction. Here are some comments seen under @hollywoodunlocked's post on Instagram about the pair's exchange:
Others criticized Azealia Banks for her frequent "online bullying."
In April 2024, Azealia Banks suggested that Tyler, The Creator, and Lil Nas X get together
It all began on Sunday, October 2, 2024, when Banks took to her X (@azealiaslacewig) to state that Lil Nas X "fell off so hard," adding that he had "no bars."
"Lil Nas X really fell off so hard. Lmfao that little c*ntrag swore she was the tea. B**ch has NO BARS. Hahahahaahahahaa," she wrote.
As news of the post spread, the Old Town Road rapper responded in an equally blunt fashion.
"Azealia, I could never make a hit song again and you would still never in ur b**sy soap-selling, chicken-sacrificing, botched-body-hating, miserable life reach a 10th of my success. Love ur music btw."
This prompted an angry Azealia Banks to go on a more aggressive attack against the rapper. She began:
"Lmfao this f**king over grown tw*nk don't make me release them g** a** photos of u mocking the LA crips with that white boy u hired on rent man. Ull get ur top blown off real quick b**ch. Don't f**k with me n**ga."
In several X posts, Banks alleged that the rapper had begged her to appear on one of his songs, but she declined. She claimed that was the reason he was mad at her. At one point, she even remarked that she would "spit" in his mouth.
This is not the first time Azealia Banks has commented on Lil Nas X's personal life. In April, she took to her Instagram (in a now-deleted post) to suggest Tyler, The Creator and Lil Nas X should get together and become a "power couple." She claimed that Tyler could teach X "how to rap" and that they would "shift culture so hard."
Tyler later expressed his confusion, commenting, "lmfao what the hell," under the post.
"Azealia Banks is right! Me and Tyler SHOULD f**k!," Tyler tweeted.
Azealia Banks is known to beef with and go on one-sided online attacks against celebrities in the past. This includes Cardi B, A$AP Rocky, Nicki Minaj, and Iggy Azalea. In March, she criticized Beyonce for the title and cover of her then-upcoming album, Cowboy Carter.
Per a March 2016 article by Vibe, Iggy Azalea confessed to having thoughts of committing suicide on The Cruz Show. At the time, the Instagram account @theshaderoom shared a post about the interview, under which Azealia commented, "YAAS slavemaster, drive that slave truck right off the canyon."
