On Saturday, December 21, Andre 3000 appeared as a guest on The New York Times Podcast. During the interview, the subject of Andre 3000's leaked track from 2021, Life of the Party, was brought up.

The Pink Matter rapper had collaborated with Kanye West on the track, which was going to drop as part of Ye's 10th studio album, Donda.

However, before the song's release, Drake leaked it on his SiriusXM radio show, leading to it being left off from the album. Kanye later released Life of the Party in the album's deluxe version.

Speaking about his feelings about Drizzy leaking the track before its release, Andre 300 said:

"I was like, ‘Woah!’ I actually don’t understand why he did it... I kind of have to thank Drake for letting that song see the light of day."

Andre 3000's interview went on for nearly 90 minutes, following his performance in the NYT newsroom.

Andre 3000 and Kanye West had together decided to remove the former's verse from the song

Recounting the days when Ye and Andre 3000 were working on Life of the Party, the Come Home rapper revealed on the podcast how Kanye was dedicating his upcoming album to his mother, Mrs. Donda West, and had also named it Donda after her.

With his own mother passing away in 2013, Andre 3000 could relate to the tragic loss and spoke on it in his rap verse on the track. However, the duo reached an impasse when West said he didn't want any curse words on his album.

"Ye was at a point where he didn’t want any curse words on the album and I said, ‘Yeah I’m cool with it.’ I’m totally fine with no curse words. But take me off the song because I’d written it a certain way... I was cool with beeped versions, but you have to put the dirty version of it out too."

3 Stack then explained why West couldn't put out a dirty version, saying:

"He said, ‘I told my daughter that I would not have any curse words on this album.’ And I was like, ‘Hey man, say no more. The kids, for sure. So just take me off.’ And we weren’t in agreement with how the song would come out."

The disagreement between the duo resulted in Life of the Party being initially left off Ye's 10th album.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Andre 3000 also confessed about being aware of the diss Kanye had added to the song, which was directed at Drake. Saying he tried to reason with Ye about the lyrics, 3 Stack said:

"I heard the diss part. Me and Kanye had a convo about it. I had my feelings about it. I was like, ‘Man, do you really want to do this on this type of song? It’s like going and shooting up your mom’s funeral'."

Per Billboard, the explicit version of the Ye-Andre 3000 collaboration hit the streaming platforms in November 2021, reaching number 3 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart. On the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, Life of the Party was ranked 47th.

The feud between Drake and Kanye West began in 2018 after the One Dance rapper released Duppy Freestyle, in which he dissed West. The conflict between them is currently ongoing, with Drizzy taking a hit at Ye in his 2023 track, Red Button, and West responding by previewing a remix of Like That earlier this year.

Another ongoing feud that Drake is involved in is with Kendrick Lamar, which started in late 2023. The rappers have exchanged multiple diss tracks back-to-back, with one of them gaining a lot of attention over social media - Lamar's Not Like Us, which has received five nominations in the upcoming 2025 Grammys.
