American singer-songwriter Kesha performed at 2024 Lollapalooza in Chicago on Thursday, August 1, 2024. In her set, the 37-year-old singer sang Backstabber from her 2010 album Animal, which was also her debut studio album. She sang,
"Katie’s to my left, rippin’ my style."
The singer performed only the first part of the track. The highlight of the performance was, however, when the singer entered the stage with fake blood on her along with a prop knife, which reportedly was real.
Kesha later took to X and wrote about the prop. She tweeted:
Fans further speculated that the song was performed to diss Katy Perry. She could further be seen wearing a white tank top with "LOL" written on it and a miniskirt that resembled a dismantled Birkin bag.

Lollapalooza Chicago 2024 began on Thursday, August 1, and is expected to continue till Sunday, August 4. The event has been organized at the Grant Park in Chicago.
What happened between Kesha and Katy Perry?
The issues began primarily after it was revealed that Dr Luke was allegedly associated with Katy Perry's new song Woman's World, which was dropped on July 11, 2024. The series of incidents could be traced back to 2014, when Kesha accused Dr Luke of s*xual assault and emotional abuse.
The pop star even filed a suit when she also claimed to be released from her contract with Luke, as reported by Billboard.
Mark Geragos, the Praying singer's attorney, then spoke to the outlet and said:
"This lawsuit is a wholehearted effort by Kesha to regain control of her music career and her personal freedom."
Recently, after Rolling Stone confirmed that Dr Luke had co-produced Perry's new song, the situation turned controversial. During the proceedings previously, Perry had to testify as well. Kesha mentioned during the trial that even Perry was a victim of Luke, which the latter denied.
NME reported that back in 2018, Katy Perry revealed that she felt "pressured" to support the True Colors singer. Perry, however, also showed annoyance towards Dr Luke and claimed that she felt he was "using her to prove his innocence."
While the legal battle between Kesha and Luke ended last year with a settlement, the pop singer seemed to have dissed Perry at the recent Lollapalooza event in Chicago.
While fans had speculated that the popstar wanted to target Katy Perry in her performance, she hasn't confirmed anything about it as of now.
In separate news, the singer recently spoke about her upcoming album, which would be her debut album as an independent artist. She told Paper:
"This is the first album I’m making where I’m 100 per cent in control of everything. It feels like it’s my first album."
The singer had already dropped her latest song Joyride, on July 4, 2024, which also featured Madison Love.
Last month, while she was performing her new track at The Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City, she again shocked her fans and the audience when she pulled out a knife and waved it from the stage.
Some people even took to the internet to express their dislike towards the act. The Mirror reported that many even compared the act with one of Britney Spears' dance videos where she involved knives.
