Reports of Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign's Vultures 2 being released tomorrow (August 2) have been flooding the internet. This appears to be based on an update posted to "yeezy.com," which currently only confirms all pending Yeezy orders have been completed.
A few hours prior, screenshots from Ye's official website were being reposted across X that suggested Vultures 2 would be delivered to streaming services on August 02, 2024. The website no longer displays this message, leading several fans into an online dialogue regarding the second volume's release date.
Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign's second collaboration album has faced several delays from its initially planned release in March, with many believing the project would end up being vaulted similar to projects like Yandhi.
Several users took to X to post and comment on re-posts of the Vultures 2 situation, sharing their thoughts and opinions on when they believe the album would be released.
One individual appeared to comment on a re-post of NFR Podcast's Vultures 2 announcement humorously suggesting the album would be released five years later on the reported date.
More appeared to share similar opinions, calling out Kanye West for not delivering albums on promised dates. Several users made fun of Ye and his fanbase, calling the rapper "washed" and suggesting that he had fallen off.
"August 2nd 2031" said one user.
"we’re so back but it’s the most washed rap legend in the game besides eminem, then there’s ty dolla $ign," One individual suggested.
"Kanye west fall off need to be studied," said another.
"Kanye fans on Friday when he delays Vultures 2 again…" said an individual who added a gif of NFL coach Nick Sirianni crying.
"I’ll believe this when I’m 5 songs deep into the album," stated one fan.
"He’ll put it on streaming for an hour, let everyone get a preview of it and then take it off streaming and sell it on his website," said another.
One individual even appeared to allegedly suggest that this announcement was made to take attention away from JPEGMafia's fifth studio album I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU, which was distributed to streaming services today via PEGGY, under an exclusive license to AWAL Recordings America, Inc.
"Trying to overshadow JPEGMAFIA…" - The individual stated.
Ty Dolla $ign suggests Vultures 2 could be released on Kanye West's official website
Last month, Ty Dolla $ign sat down for an exclusive interview with Billboard's Damien Scott to discuss his career and impact on the hip-hop and R&B industry, as well as his work with Kanye on the Vultures series.
During the interview, Ty calls Kanye West the "best artist" of this generation and cites it as the primary reason he works with the rapper. Dolla $ign highlights how he stands by Ye and ignores the controversial statements people make online when he says,
"Ye is the best artist of this generation, besides me, and I don’t give a f--k about what people were talking about. I know my n---a. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met"
The interview then focuses on the upcoming release of Vultures 2, at which point Ty Dolla confirms the album was "almost done" and suggests that the LP could be distributed to fans on Kanye's official website (Yeezy.com), completely avoiding a DSP launch.
Ty does highlight that he doesn't get too involved with the marketing, promotion, and distribution aspects of this collaboration series, citing how he leaves a lot of the major business decision-making to Kanye West, choosing to focus his efforts on the sonic and musical aspects of their albums.
"Why not? Switch it up. He’s always got something up his sleeve. I always got some[thing] up my sleeve.”
A few days ago, Kanye West took to Instagram to provide an update on his Asia "Vultures Listening Experience".
The event will now reportedly include a stop in Taiwan, two days after the duo perform their Vultures set in South Korea at the Goyang Stadium, on August 23, 2024.
