"On January 4, 2025, Azealia Banks took to X to comment on Drake and Kendrick Lamar's feud, targeting the latter for not making peace with Drizzy. The rap feud began with Lamar dissing Drizzy on Future and Metro Boomin’s Like That, followed by a back-and-forth of diss tracks between both the rappers.
Drake's recent legal filing against Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us has made the rap feud a matter of discussion and controversy once again, and Azealia Banks is the latest artist to comment on the same. Azealia commented on how K.Dot couldn't "peace it up" with Drizzy and shake hands with him in "good sportsmanship."
Azealia Banks mentioned:
"Instead went out of his way to recruit drakes friends like he’s Regina George is just so c*nty and gay."
The Regina George reference is from the 2004 movie Mean Girls, wherein Regina is a manipulative character who manipulates people around her to achieve what she wants.
Additionally, Azealia addressed Kendrick Lamar calling Drake a colonizer in his track. She said that it was funny to imagine a Jewish black man being dubbed a colonizer, adding that they are the "two most persecuted groups of people in modern times." Azealia Banks said that Lamar's tactics were similar to the ignorance of an "un-read ghetto inner city public school" and that she finds it hard to believe that people are falling for it.
"Just pull an epic Green Day white boy flex": Azealia Banks suggests how Drake should make history
After calling out Kendrick Lamar for not making peace with Drake, Azealia Banks took to X again on January 3, 2025, to respond to an X user called @liaptchev. The X user referred to one of Azealia's previous tweets from January 2, 2025, claiming that Kendrick is not "the hardest out," adding that he made comments stating "drake isn't black." She mentioned that Drizzy had the better records, and everyone is aware of the same. She also said that the black sympathy card was being played again.
Additionally, Azealia Banks questioned what Lamar's lyrics "They not like us" mean. She also questioned if Lamar was sure about Drake being a pedophile and why he didn't go to the police before taking to the internet to make the claim. Azealia added that Kendrick Lamar was "just saying anything" and people fell for it. Responding to Azealia questioning Lamar's Not Like Us lyrics, X user @liaptchev said:
"It means he’s not from the culture, you didn’t get that? It means he’s copying African American culture when he’s actually a Jew from Toronto."
Clarifying her stance on Drizzy not being from the culture, Azealia Banks mentioned in her response to the X user that Black Jews exist and that Toronto is "dusty and ghetto." Azealia stated that there are ghettos in Montreal and in Ottawa, questioning what made everyone think Canada doesn't have "a lot of ratchet zones."
Additionally, she tweeted her suggestion on how Drake should make history, comparing him to Eminem and Green Day. In her tweet, Azealia Banks mentioned:
"Drake just needs to pull a papa roach last resort type record next and have another global Eminem level hit and put a cap on this s*it. If they won’t let him be black f**k it. He can move in ways other rap ni**as can’t. Just pull an epic Green Day white boy flex. Make history."
This is not the first time Azealia Banks has publicly sided with Drizzy. In May 2024, Azealia took to her Instagram Stories to comment on Kendrick Lamar's diss track Euphoria, stating that the beat Lamar was rapping on was "dumb trash" and that the mix was "muddy as hell." At the time, she also proclaimed that Drizzy won the rap battle.
