More details on Vete by Bad Bunny and the YHLQMDLG album
Vete was released in November 2019 by Bad Bunny under Rimas Entertainment as the lead single from his second solo studio album, YHLQMDLG—an acronym for Yo Hago Lo Que Me De La Gana, translated in English as I Do What I Feel Like Doing.
The songwriters credited on the song include Benito Martinez, Ivaniel Ortiz, Jose Cruz, Freddy Montalvo, and Cesar Batista-Escalara, among others. The hit track explores the reggaeton sub-genre of music with the combination of Bunny’s vocals and a catchy tune.
The bass line, pulsating beat, and melody combine to create a memorable track. Vete is a heartbreak song that expresses the singer’s disinterest in continuing a relationship that has gone sour.
The vocal delivery captures the intense emotions of a romantic separation. The YHLQMDLG album, which features nine tracks including Vete, Ignorantes, La Dificil, and Si Veo a Tu Mama, amongst others, has surpassed 10 billion streams on Spotify. This marks his second album to achieve this feat, following Un Verano Sin Ti.
The YHLQMDLG album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting Spanish album on the chart until the release of Ultimo Tour Del Mundo. YHLQMDLG was the best-selling Latin album of 2020, became Spotify’s most-streamed album globally, and clinched the award for Best Latin Pop or Urban Album at the Grammy Awards in 2021.
Vete, its lead single, peaked at number one on the Billboard US Hot Latin Songs, Billboard US Latin Hot Play, and Billboard US Latin Rhythm Airplay charts and peaked at number thirty-three on the Billboard Hot 100. The hit track was certified 3x Platinum by Spain PROMUSICAE and 27x Platinum by the RIAA in the United States. Vete also received a nomination at the 2020 Grammys for Record of the Year.
