Recently British rapper and record producer M.I.A took to social media to make some allegations against music giants Adele, Beyonce and Jay-Z. In the video, which was uploaded on Instagram on November 30 by livebitez, she stated:

“I find it difficult that when people make it, they all can turn around and thank Beyonce, because that's fu*ked it, and enough is enough. I'm fu*king coming for everyone now. And even Adele, because she's retired now, but her career would not exist if I hadn't made Jonathan Dickens into a manager, who is her manager.

She continued:

“He signed to Excel because of me. Nick Huggett was my A&R who signed her, and when she gets an award, she thanks Beyonce. And I'm sick and tired of all of the fu*king women who don't want to give respect to me because I'm a brown woman in music.”

Here, she talked about the 'Thank You Beyonce' trend that has emerged among celebrities at award shows. The trend has a conspiracy theory attached to it. It all started with the rapper Aaliyah's death, which took place in 2001. As per Rolling Stone’s January 2, 2014 report, some think that it was because of Aaliyah's death, that Beyoncé could become the icon she is today.

Other TikTok users have linked the tragic incident with Beyoncé's association with P. Diddy, who has been at the heart of the conspiracy theories regarding Aaliyah's passing. According to the theory, the celebrities either have to thank Beyoncé or pay the price.

M.I.A. recently took to social media platforms and claimed that Adele’s career would not have existed if she hadn't made Jonathan Dickens into a manager who later became Adele’s manager. However, when she got an award, she thanked Beyoncé instead. The Time Traveller singer further continued:

“We can name the list of all the people. Beyonce herself changed her career to becoming more radical and radicalized and politicized after borders you can check your timeline. But she will never say, oh, yeah, M.I.A. inspires me.”

She then went on to say:

“15 years ago, what Adele was on the podium thanking Beyonce, and I had to talk about the genocide, is because the purpose was to tell you about genocides that are happening now. So I had to be like, you know what, let that fu*king tank Beyonce, because that's not my battle right now.”

The Borders singer concluded:

“Jimmy Ivey now fu*king cared about defu*king streaming or digital music and digital distribution before he met me. Diplo didn't think about Major Laser before me. Dave didn't think about Diplo before me. Beyonce didn't think about politics before me, and that's true.”

In recent years, celebrities have thanked Beyoncé a lot after getting an award. Additionally, some famous personalities have felt uneasy after beating Beyoncé to something. Singers like Adele seemed to lose her calm when she won album of the year against Beyoncé in 2017.

During her acceptance speech, she thanked the TEXAS HOLD 'EM singer. Even Kanye West hurried to the stage when Taylor Swift defeated Queen Bey in 2009. He interrupted Swift and said:

“I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!”

Meanwhile, M.I.A’s outburst goes back to last decade when she left Roc Nation, which was Jay-Z's company. Roc Nation hired the singer in 2012 which she left in 2014 without citing any reason.

A decade later, as per Exron Music’s February 12, 2024, report, she held Jay-Z and Roc Nation responsible for her music career's demise. She further blamed Queen Bey for the same.

In a string of angry tweets, M.I.A. proceeded to dig out some old memories and conversations to shed light on the reasons she believed to have ended her career.

Meanwhile, none of M.I.A's claims have been proved as of yet.
