"Been an icon for decades"- Ray J shares his thoughts on Diddy's arrest scandal, explains why celebrities aren't speaking up

Ray J recently shared his response to Diddy's arrest on September 16, 2024. The latter was charged with s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. His bail was rejected after being taken to the court the following day.

Ray J appeared on the talk show, Cuomo, on September 20, stating that everyone must accept the mistakes committed by their respective mentors, and considering the current situation, no one needs to "tear anybody down." Ray continued by praising Diddy's contribution to the music industry and said:

"Diddy's been an icon for decades. We've all listened to his music. We've all been around him, at least in my era, and have looked up to him. And this situation is super unfortunate, but it's important to learn a lesson right now and ensure the next generation understands how to move differently with transparency and integrity."

Ray also discussed why celebrities have maintained silence about the case, mentioning that everyone is shocked by the allegations. However, he requested everyone to maintain unity, which can lead the way to a better future.

On the other hand, the One Wish singer dismissed the claims regarding the organization of the reported 'Freak-Offs,' which were the alleged s*x events mentioned in the grand jury indictment. They were reportedly held inside hotel rooms, and Ray J stated that he had never been to such places. He spoke up on how people have been reacting to the legal issue:

"To see where we are now, I think everybody is still trying to digest it and still trying to understand it. And even though they're still allegations and it's not anything that's factual yet, it's harmful and it's confusing to a lot of people."

Ray J had spoken about Diddy's legal issues on another occasion

Diddy has recently found himself in a lot of trouble, which began after his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit against the rapper, accusing him of physical assault and se*ual abuse.

Notably, Diddy has been involved in a lot of legal issues, including multiple civil lawsuits on allegations of se*ual assault and s*x trafficking. Back in April this year, Ray J addressed the accusations in an interview with TMZ and said:

"I think a lot of people are just trying to understand it. Understand what is and what's not, ya know? It's still a big question mark. Pray for everybody, though. Prayers go up for everybody."

Furthermore, in the same conversation, Ray J once again denied that he ever had any knowledge about the alleged s*x events, termed, "Freak Offs." The evidence of the acts was reportedly obtained during the raids conducted at Diddy's residences in March 2024.

In another interview with The Art of Dialogue in May 2024, Ray J responded to the allegations against Diddy by saying:

"When somebody is around somebody and we're counting on them to be one of our leaders in a space that we're all trying to get to, that's not acceptable to do and it's not OK."

Ray's last album Raydemption was released back in 2022 and he has also been appearing on Love & Hip Hop: Miami.
