A$AP Rocky and Drake have been seemingly involved in a dispute for some time after the latter targeted Rocky in one of his singles, Fear of Heights. The song was released last year and grabbed 10th place on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was also included in the soundtrack of Drake's eighth album, For All the Dogs.
Drake seemingly dissed Rocky with the lyrics:
“That man, he still with you, he can’t leave you/ Y’all go on vacation, I bet it’s Antilles.”
Meanwhile, A$AP Rocky recently spoke to Billboard on August 22, 2024, saying that he was not willing to get into a beef with Drake. He started by stating that some people have been "throwing shots" at him for many years and continued:
"I ain't in the middle of that sh*t. That's not how I retaliate right now. I got bigger fish to fry than some p*ssy boys. It is real beef outside. It is real. N*ggas getting really clipped and blitzed every day. N*ggas snipping n*ggas every day. That little kitty sh*t ain't about nothing."
Notably, Rocky had responded to Drake's diss earlier this year in the song Wow, which was released by Kid Cudi. He was heard rapping in the song:
"My boo got the Glizzy, keep the receipt if it's beef. Cheffin' mans, Boyardee, with the latest Goyard/ Me and my vamp bae got our own handshake/ These n*ggas can't stomach me, gotta go get a mandrake."
While Rocky's words about his beef with Drake went viral on different platforms, netizens took to the comments section of The Shade Room's Instagram post to share their reactions. One of them wrote:
"Being a father to his kids with the woman Drake fumbled."
A few users believed that A$AP Rocky was possibly trying to say that he was now married to Rihanna, who was speculated to be in a relationship with Drake in the past for a brief time. Another person also referred to Rocky and Rihanna's marriage by saying that the rapper won.
A$AP Rocky speaks up on why his upcoming album is facing delays
Also known as Rakim Athelaston Mayer, Rocky has released three albums in his career until now. While his latest project Testing came out around six years ago, his fans are eagerly waiting for the arrival of his fourth album, Don't Be Dumb.
In his latest interview with Billboard, A$AP Rocky opened up on why the album's release is taking so long and said:
"Leaks and sample clearances are disrupting the album. Its been 6 years and I wanna make the best album ever. Im sorry for the wait."
The 35-year-old also shared more details about the artists appearing in the album, including Tyler, The Creator. He even recalled the time when director Tim Burton was listening to the album and expressed his shock by saying that he had no idea that Rocky was so flawless in his music.
Back in October 2023, A$AP Rocky appeared for an interview with Dazed Digital, saying that the upcoming album was one of his best works and he is leaving his "expectations wide and open." He further stated:
"I don't want to tell you what to expect. I just want people to experience it how they do naturally."
Don't Be Dumb was originally supposed to arrive on August 30 this year but has been postponed to late 2024. However, five singles from the soundtrack have been already released, starting with D.M.B. in May 2022.
