Coi Leray and Trippie Redd recently confirmed that they are expecting their first child together. The news comes around 5 months after the duo reconciled their relationship in August 2024. Notably, they dated for a brief period in 2019, as per Vibe magazine.
Leray announced the pregnancy through her Instagram page on Wednesday, January 1, with a lineup of photos. Leray also added the music of her collaborative single with Metro Boomin, Self Love, in the background and wrote in the caption:
"I'm a rock star mommy. We ready for 2025."
The first picture featured Coi Leray flaunting her baby bump on camera and wearing a cap. There were two selfies of Leray alongside a close-up photo of her baby bump. In another picture, Leray and Redd are posing together where the latter was spotted putting his hand on the bump.
While the comments section was flooded with best wishes from Coi Leray and Trippie Redd's followers, netizens also shared their responses to the news below a post shared by Pop Base on X (formerly Twitter). One of them also wrote:
"Benzino is gonna be the grandfather of Trippie Redds kid."
The response referred to Coi's father Benzino, who has been a well-known face in the music industry over the years. There were other replies where people were seemingly surprised to know that Coi Leray and Trippie Redd were still together.
"Damn I had no idea they were still together?? Congrats," one user wrote on X.
"Huh, they were dating???" another netizen commented.
"I need someone to explain how these two went from publicly fighting on clubhouse to having a whole baby together – love to see growth though," another person said.
On the other hand, a few others gave funny reactions to Redd's look in one of the photos.
"Is that a guy or girl on the left?" another netizen mentioned.
"Wait I'm confused as to if that's a girl or boy and I'm not even tryna be funny. I really can't tell," another X user said.
Trippie Redd addressed his split from Coi Leray on a single
As mentioned, Redd and Leray dated for some time in 2019, and following their split, the former released a single titled Leray with a portion of the lyrics speaking about the breakup.
Coi appeared for an interview on No Jumper in August 2020, saying that she did not like the song and continued:
"If you got something to say, let's get together and you say that s**t to my face… I felt like I'm being used for click bait. He'll sell out with or without me, but at that point I just felt like he coulda just called me, you coulda just hit me, DM'd whoever, emailed."
However, Coi Leray still praised Trippie Redd by saying that he has perfectly added his emotions to the track since she does the same with her singles. Notably, Leray seemingly confirmed her reconciliation with Redd in a post shared through X on August 8, 2024, which reads:
"Sleeping on FaceTime, waking up on FaceTime."
While speaking to TMZ the next month, Trippie himself confirmed that he and Leray were back together again, adding that they were also working in the studio.
Coi Leray has not announced any new album for now and her last major project was Coi, which received a mixed response in 2023.
