An affiliate of Playboi Carti recently claimed the rapper had allegedly cut ties with media personality DJ Akademiks after his recent grooming controversy. For the unversed, Akademiks landed in hot water after his s*xually suggestive remarks towards 15-year-old Twitch streamer NourGxd during a webcast on January 23, 2025.

Clips of Akademiks' alleged inappropriate behavior surfaced on X, with a video showing the media personality asking the teen:

"Yo, if Max said he wanted to try f**king a dude, will you let him f**k you?"

Akademiks reportedly continued pushing NourGxd even after the teen expressed his discomfort at the conversation topic. This clip garnered immense backlash from netizens, with FaZe Plaqueboymax calling out Akademiks for being "nasty."

Following this, an Instagram account under the username @happening (presumed to be Carti's affiliate) took to Instagram Story to inform fans not to expect any announcement about Carti from Akademiks' "weird a**." DJ Akademiks has been updating fans about Playboi Carti's upcoming album, I Am Music.

Fans praised the rapper for allegedly cutting ties with Akademiks, with one user tweeting:

"Best thing he's done all rollout."

Many expressed their delight at Akademiks' alleged downfall, adding they never believed the media personality about his Playboi Carti updates.

"The cancellation of Ak is finally happening!!!" one person exclaimed.
"We been not taking him serious lollll been lying for carti for too long," another person added.
"FINALLY BRO," someone else commented.
"I mean let's be honest he is kinda weird," another user posted.

However, others claimed this was hypocritical of Playboi Carti, citing the rapper's alleged problematic behavior as a reference.

"Carti is literally weirder," one person wrote.
"That man BEEN weird, going online dragging and disrespecting women but now is when people wanna cut ties?" another person questioned.
"Ak is a weirdo, but it's funny seeing everyone in the comments acting like carti didn't beat his girl or beno being obsessed with kids," someone else added.

DJ Akademiks addressed rumors of his fallout with Playboi Carti

According to Hot New Hip Hop, DJ Akademiks addressed the reports of his alleged fallout with Playboi Carti, posting a screen recording of his recent DMs with the rapper following the scandal. It is unclear what Playboi Carti's current relationship with DJ Akademiks is like, with the rapper yet to respond to the falling-out reports.

DJ Akademiks also apologized for his inappropriate remarks to NourGxd, the 15-year-old Twitch streamer, in a recent Rumble stream on January 25. He promised to take responsibility and do better.

"I am wrong. I will be better. This is a teachable moment. For me, obviously, I got to watch my speech. That's clear. [...] Definitely a regrettable moment, and we're going to use it as a teachable moment. Because I don't think I've came this far, built this platform, to be that irresponsible, right?"

He continued:

"And of course, I could throw out any type of excuses. Well, f**k all that. [...] So I'll just take the responsibility. I should do better and will do better," Akademiks said.

Akademiks' apology came after NourGxd took to his X page to call out the media personality for his "truly uncomfortable" and "disgusting" remarks. Meanwhile, Scru Face Jean, a YouTuber, revealed to his X followers that he interviewed the teen following the scandal and is waiting for approval from the teen's guardian and police to upload the interview to his YouTube page.

In other news, fans eagerly await Playboi Carti's upcoming album. However, it is unclear when it will be released. I Am Music will be the rapper's third studio album following his 2020 LP While Lotta Red.
