On December 8, 2024, Shawn Carter aka Jay Z was accused of r*ping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 with Sean "Diddy" Combs as mentioned in a civil lawsuit. The case was originally filed in October 2024 and listed Diddy as the defendant. However, it was refiled to mention Carter's name as well.

The name of the petitioner isn't mentioned and it is a "Jane Doe" who alleged that Jay-Z and Diddy r*ped her in 2000 after they brought her to attend an MTV Music Video Awards afterparty.

Netizens expressed their opinion on the Run This Town rapper's name being mentioned in the lawsuit alongside Diddy via social media platforms. Internet users, especially Beyonce fans, urged the couple to split, wherein an X user tweeted:

"Beyhive writing a letter to Beyoncé to divorce Jay Z"
"we about to see a jay z and beyonce divorce next year," an X user commented.
"Beyonce needs to divorce Jay Z or her legacy will be tarnished," another X user mentioned.
"Beyonce and Jay Z divorce incoming. She might finally be free from him," an internet user stated.

Additionally, netizens also commented on how the Roc Nation founder is allegedly a threat to Beyonce's reputation:

"I'm sorry but divorce is the only option here, Jay Z has turned out to be a threat to Beyonce's reputation and FOR Beyonce He is literally ruining her career n this It has reached a point where it is affecting her entire family, she and her children do not have to go through this," an X user tweeted.
"Beyoncé if we’re being completely honest you should’ve been left when Solange beat Jay Z in that elevator," another netizen said, referring to the 2014 incident when Beyonce's sister Solange allegedly had a fight with the rapper.

"My only heartbreak is for my family"- Jay Z mentions in a statement denying civil lawsuit allegations

On December 8, 2024, Jay Z wrote a statement responding to the allegations against him levied in the civil lawsuit filed by Jane Doe. The statement was shared on Roc Nation's Instagram account.

Calling it a "blackmail attempt" from lawyer Tony Buzbee, who has been representing multiple victims against Diddy. The Renegade rapper said that he won't give Buzbee a single penny in settlement adding that the allegations of r*pe are heinous and Buzbee should be filing a criminal complaint for the same instead of a civil one.

The rapper said that he researched Tony Buzbee and got to know that he has a "pattern of these type of theatrics". The rapper said that he is prepared to deal with Buzbee's "type" after which he commented on the impact such allegations will have on his family.

The Run This Town rapper's statement read:

"My only heartbreak is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people."

He continued:

"I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit."

The rapper addressed Tony Buzbee saying that he made a "terrible error in judgement" assuming that all celebrities are the same because he is not from their world. The rapper said that he is a young man who made it out of "the project of Brooklyn" where people have strict codes of honor and don't play such games.

Toward the end of his statement addressing Tony Buzbee, Jay Z said that only the attorney's level of fake physics and conspiracy theorists will believe the claims that have been levied against him. He ended the note with a warning to Buzbee stating that he looks forward to showing the attorney how different he is.
