Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles' music company, Music World Entertainment, had filed a countersuit against their former landlord, Decorative Center of Houston, and allegedly accused the center of using the N-word.
As per court documents obtained by Radar Online, the building manager said he,
"Doesn't want any n----- in the building."
Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles was sued by his former landlord, Decorative Center of Houston, for $390 in October 2021. As per legal papers obtained by Radar Online, DCH claimed Music World Entertainment rented office space at a building in Houston, Texas, in 2017, and vacated it before the seven-year lease expired after failing to pay the monthly rent.
The DCH filed another lawsuit against Music World Entertainment on April 30.
Why did DCH file a lawsuit against Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment?
As per court documents obtained by Radar Online, Decorative Center of Houston filed a lawsuit against Mathew Knowles' music company, accusing it of vacating an office space that they rented in 2017 before the lease expired.
DCH also claimed, Music World failed to make the monthly payments and owed the building a sum of $108,758.80 as a result of breach from July 31, 2021.
DCH was able to get another tenant but at a lower monthly rent and a lesser time period than the remaining lease term for Music World. As a result, DCH claimed the company cost them a total of $282k in lost rent from August 2021 to the lease expiry date.
In a countersuit, Mathew Knowles claimed DCH was informed of the music company vacating the premises in June 2020 and cites the building's-
"Disruptive working environment that detrimentally impaired Music World's business operations."
Beyonce's father also alleged that the building manager used the N-word and used derogatory language to the black community in the lawsuit:
"In fact, he has been repeatedly quoted using very derogatory language to several members of the black community who work in the building."
Additionally, Knowles' countersuit also pointed out several broken items in the office space, leaks that damaged the space, wonky air-conditioning systems, and toilets that were not in working condition causing "intolerable scents emanating throughout the office."
He also added the building experienced power outages with constant construction going on in the building. Music World Entertainment "depends heavily on the events it schedules with members of the entertainment industry" and the music company was prohibited from booking any events in the building.
Knowles' Music World Entertainment is demanding all claims to be dismissed and the landlord of DCH to be ordered to pay its attorney fees.
