Kendrick Lamar rocked a black-and-white striped shirt, white pants, and a double C beanie in his recent photoshoot with Chanel. The 37-year-old rapper has been digging into his partnership with Chanel lately and has already done partnerships, collabs, and a couple of ads for the fashion giant.
However, fans have flooded X (formerly Twitter) asking him when he would release the highly anticipated visuals for his Drake diss track Not Like Us. Some of their reactions are as follows
"Bro doing everything but dropping the music video," joked one K-Dot fan on X.
"Kendrick just opened his mouth, someone go hand him a magazine cover right now," quipped another fan.
"THE GOAT," declared another fan.
"Greatest rapper ever," agreed another.
However, some Drake fans were also quick to turn up in the comments section and diss the Not Like Us singer on behalf of their idol.
"The goat of the music Drake turned him into a model/Drake really ended Kendrick’s boogeyman persona," opined one Drake fan.
"Drake restored this man career," stated another.
Other users simply made fun of Kendrick Lamar's new photoshoot and came up with novel ways to describe the Meet The Grahams rapper.
"I see what you did there: high heels got cut off," declared one user.
"Posing like he is about to throw up," opined another.
"This me when I act like I got change in my pocket but i dont," added another netizen.
Another fan suggested that Kendrick Lamar resembled a supermodel in the photoshoot and that the iconic beef with Drake had turned him into someone like that.
"Damn the beef turned bro into a super model," stated the fan.
"It’s really Like That," quipped another.
May 3 and May 4 marked two of the most significant dates in the much-dragged timeline of Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar's beef. The third of May saw the release of three of the most iconic tracks in the entire beef and Kendrick Lamar released Not Like Us the day after.
Following Drake's Push Ups and the much-debated Taylor Made Freestyle, fans were desperate for a comeback from Kendrick's side. On April 30, he released Euphoria and 6:16 in LA came out on May 3.
Drizzy had a response ready and he released Family Matters the same day, accusing Kendrick Lamar of domestic violence and stating that Dave Free is the father of one of his kids. In less than an hour, K-Dot released one of the most iconic tracks of the entire beef, Meet The Grahams, where he alleged that Drake is a pedophile and has an anonymous child hidden somewhere. Not Like Us was released the day after and zeroed in on the allegations even further.
It is important to note that no evidence for any of the accusations has been provided by either party so far.
Kendrick Lamar performed Not Like Us a total of five times in The Pop Out: Ken & Friends
After the supposed conclusion of the Drake-Lamar beef, the latter performed in a live event for the first time at The Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert held at The Kia Forum on June 19.
The rapper took the stage at 6:30 in the evening and started proceedings with Euphoria. The audience was treated with a very significant addition to the song as Kendrick Lamar alluded to the legendary Tupac Shakur's ring that was bought at an auction by Drizzy for a whopping $2 million.
"Give me Tupac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect," rapped Kendrick.
However, the star of the show was Lamar performing Not Like Us for a total of five times, with each iteration met with more cheers and applause than the last. In the beginning, there was only Dr. Dre with the 37-year-old rapper, but other performers kept on mounting the stage and the performance ended with 30 of the biggest juggernauts in the hip-hop industry showing a rare moment of solidarity at The Pop Out concert.
Kendrick Lamar went on to dedicate the entire show to people who lose their lives to violence every day. The rapper acknowledged the iconic moment and took a group photo with all 30 of them that has since gone viral over the internet.
"Everybody on this stage got fallen soldiers. For all of us to be together, that [expletive] is special. We put this together with peace. I promise this won’t be the last of us," explained Lamar.
The show ended with yet another repetition of Not Like Us as fans started getting off the stage and leaving the auditorium.
