Grammy-winning record producer, Conductor Williams dropped a new freestyle by Drake on his YouTube channel on Friday, January 3, 2025. The track, allegedly titled Freestyle Irish, was later taken down from the channel. However, by then, it had already caught the attention of the Canadian rapper's fans who uploaded the clip on social media platforms.
Additionally, some verses of the freestyle were shared on X by the NFR podcast on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
"Who's got the most to lose, and who's in that other position?/ Signal conversations, boy I hope they got double encryption/ I hate to see their empire crumble on judges' convictions," one of the verses read.
The tweet has since gone viral, getting over 2 million views and 10K likes. Netizens also took to the social media platform to speculate over the lyrics of Drake's freestyle, with many stating that they "left the beef in 2024."
"Bros still talking about the beef in 2025," one netizen wrote.
Other netizens asked the God's Plan rapper to accept his defeat, as they hinted at the Kendrick-Drake beef and stated that he should leave it behind in 2024. Some also seemingly speculated that the verses could have been targetted at The Weekend and a few claimed that he was"bragging about taking a generational L."
"He’s tryin to make it hard suing someone lmao" - commented an X user.
"Kendrick was right. A real life battle with your self." - added another one.
"Aubrey you lost. we left this in 2024. let it GO" - wrote a third user.
"I'm almost positive this is actually about the The Weeknd because he was talking about the shooting at his crib before this part." - wrote a fourth user.
"Is he bragging about suing Universal because Not Like Us triggered him? How tf is this dude bragging about taking a generational L." - replied a fifth one.
"Dumb**s really doubling down on predicting his own future when the judge throw that dumb lawsuit out with prejudice" - commented a sixth user.
For the unversed, The Weeknd first collaborated with Drizzy on the 2011 track, Crew Love, which made it on several musical charts. A year later, the Portland rapper expressed an interest in signing The Weeknd to his label, OVO, but he decided to sign to Republic Records instead.
Drake allegedly blasted people for switching sides in his freestyle
In Freestyle Irish, Drake seemingly talks about the trials and tribulations he faced in 2024. Per Billboard, the Passionfruit rapper also seemingly took a hit at everyone who switched sides on him amidst the Kendrick Lamar feud.
"The world fell in love with the gimmicks, even my brothers got tickets, seemed like they loved every minute/ Just know the s–t is personal to us and wasn’t just business/ Analyzing behavioral patterns is somewhat suspicious," he said in the rap.
According to the media outlet, Drizzy's hits are seemingly directed towards those he considered close friends. They include NBA stars LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan, who attended Lamar's Pop Out Concert in June 2024.
The Uptown rapper also busted the myth about having a drinking problem in the track, which K-Dot alleged in his track, Meet the Grahams. Drake rapped that he didn't have a problem but called it a "subtle addiction," noting that he had his "father's habits" and "mother's permission."
Apart from Freestyle Irish, the rapper has worked with Conductor Williams in the past as well. In 2023, Conductor Williams produced two tracks in his eighth studio album, For All the Dogs - 8 AM in Charlotte and Stories About My Brother.
Media outlets reached out to Drake's and Conductor Williams' teams for a comment about the release and removal of Freestyle Irish, but have yet to hear back.
Drake is scheduled to appear in the New York Supreme Court on January 16, 2025, for a hearing that will address his complaint against UMG and Spotify.
