In a Rolling Stone cover story on September 10, Chappell Roan revealed a shocking incident as she claimed that a fan of hers grabbed and kissed her, without her permission. Chappell revealed that the incident took place in August at a bar, as she was present there to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
She also stated how someone called her father’s number the same night after it was leaked online. Chappell Roan said:
“They need to see me as a random b***h on the street. You can’t yell at a random b***h who’s on the sidewalk that you don’t know. It’s considered catcalling or harassment.”
As soon as the bits of her interview where she talked about stalking, and inappropriate fan behavior went viral on social media, many netizens started commenting and pouring in their thoughts. One social media user commented on X (formerly Twitter):
“But y'all were clowning her a few days ago for setting boundaries.” one person said.
Others also sided with her, and talked about her revelation, as the netizens commented how she was criticized for voicing her opinions, previously.
“And people are still gonna say she’s being rude and dramatic,” another person said.
“Yall attacked her for that other statement about weird "fans" but she was literally harassed by these people. this is heartbreaking,” one person wrote.
“This is why i didn’t get the hate when she set boundaries?! y’all are wild for bandwagoning on her when she was just concerned about her safety,” another person commented.
“I hope y'all are regretting the things you said about her, 'cause some things were pretty vile,” said an X user.
Some netizens pointed out that people should respect boundaries with celebrities.
“Tbh people really need to start respecting celebrities’ boundaries and personal space… this is why Chappell is really scared to go to public gatherings and take pictures,” one netizen said.
“And this is why she is reacting badly to stalkers y'all hate her for dumb reasons,” another person said.
“Chappell Roan is dealing with serious issues, including stalking, harassment, and privacy breaches. It's a tough situation for her,” another netizen commented.
