Yung Gravy denied the claim that internet sensation Hailey Welch, aka the Hawk Tuah Girl, rejected him after he allegedly slid into her DMs. Welch became a household name following her onomatopoeic answer alluding to oral s*x during a risque street interview in June.
Media company Pop Crave shared a post on X claiming Welch told TMZ that Yung Grazy asked her out on a date via a DM, to which the 22-year-old reportedly replied, “I was like, nahhhh, I don’t know about that…”
On August 19, the rapper responded to the post with a screenshot of a text chain between him and Welch.
"Can’t be nice anymore lol," he wrote in the caption.
The screenshot showed a text thread between Welch and Yung Gravy on July 31. As per the screenshot, Welch messaged, "Hello sir," at 1.44 am. The rapper and singer allegedly responded to the message at 11.53 am, congratulating her on her newfound success. In the follow-up messages, he invited her to one of his shows, texting:
"Oh, and this ain’t just me trying to finesse cause I don’t know your man situation. But I wanted to have you at a show next month to hear my country s***."
Welch allegedly asked when the show was, and Gravy texted that she could pick any show. The screenshot doesn't show any other text messages between the two.

Yung Gravy is currently on 'The Grits & Gravy Tour'
Yung Gravy is currently performing 'The Grits & Gravy Tour,' his biggest North American tour to date, to support his fourth studio album, Serving Country, released on August 2, 2024. According to his website, the tour started in San Diego on July 3, 2024.
The singer and rapper is expected to perform in 33 cities, including Louisville, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Phoenix, Denver and Boston, to name a few. The final show will be in Minneapolis on November 29. Tickets for the tour are on sale at the singer's website.
Yung Gravy's foray into country music was inspired by his country friends and his zeal for trying something new. In an August interview with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Gravy said:
"Everything that I enjoyed about Nashville, the south, I kind of combined it and put it on this project. I wanted to try something new."
Yung Gravy also said the album contained many references to his real life, including his dating life.
"I actually did try pretty hard on the album and I learned a whole new genre and how to sing and all this stuff. It's not country. It's not rap. It's Gravy with some seasoning," he said.
The 14-track album featured big country artists like Zack Brown and Shania Twain. Yung Gravy added that he had no plans of going full country, calling his venture "an excursion."
Yung Gravy, whose real name is Matthew Raymond Hauri, started his music career as a SoundCloud rapper in 2017. His breakout hit was his 2022 single Betty (Get Money), which peaked at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. The 28-year-old rapper has four studio albums, two collaborative albums, and one mixtape to his name.
