After Dame Dash shared that he was going to sell his one-third share of Jay-Z's debut album Reasonable Doubt, Lupe Fiasco shared that he thought Canadian rapper Drake would be the perfect person to buy it. In Dame Dash's post, he wrote,
"This sh*t is for sale 1/3... Only real inquires only."
Fiasco commented under the post, which he later deleted. In the comment, he suggested that the album should either be with Drake or in the museum. The now-deleted comment read:
"@champagnepapi will keep it safe for generations to come. This is grail and influenced an innumerable amount of rappers to see it peddle such a lack of grace genuinely hurts my feelings a little bit but also on savages shit f*ck it...either donate it to a museums for safekeeping or seriously let Drake make an offer so he can put in where it needs to be."
Lupe Fiasco added,
"Or just keep the sh*t OG you should be infinitely proud of this. Without it there is no me as I am and I'm sure other MC's will agree."
The decision to sell the album came after a February court order requiring the sale of all remaining shares in Roc-A-Fella Records due to an $823,000 debt from a 2022 civil case. Jay-Z and co-founder Kareem "Biggs" Burke opposed the sale, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Complex reported that Cam'ron and Mase were in talks to buy it, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Lupe Fiasco recently weighed in on the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar
American rapper and record producer shared his thoughts on the high-profile beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Although the official feud had ended, netizens continued to talk about it.
On July 20, Lupe Fiasco found himself in the middle of a heated conversation online on X Space. He first said,
"If you want to start who is in and who is out, a process which I don’t agree with, and I think is bullsh*t, if you want to do that you should have a degree."
He added:
"You should have a PhD in hip-hop. If you ain’t got that, then I don’t think that you are qualified to and have the right to speak on of hip-hop."
He continued by stating that just because someone could rap, didn't mean they had the entire knowledge about the hip-hop culture. Fiasco claimed that these days people were making decisions mostly on who could sell more records.
"It should be stewarded by people who know what the f*ck they are talking about very very deeply and can write a book about it," added Lupe Fiasco.
Kendrick Lamar's fans thought he was criticizing the rapper, but he later addressed rumors about disliking Lamar stating that he never had issues with him.
Lupe Fiasco recently suggested "rebooting" Child Rebel Soldier, as his own project
Apart from the comment about Drake gaining possession of Jay-Z's debut album's share, Lupe Fiasco made headlines lately, after he suggested that he was going to reboot the supergroup Child Rebel Soldier. It initially was a group consisting of Lupe, Kanye West, and Pharrell Williams.
In the conversation with Stereogum, Lupe shared that the group was built up after he had to rap about the disadvantages of gaining fame over "ethereal ass Radiohead beats." This caught the attention of Williams and West as well. The trio came together and made only a few songs together including Us (Placers), Don't Stop!, and Everybody Noze (Remix).
Lupe told Stereogum that while he wanted to bring the group back, it would be more like a solo project for him. In the conversation, he said,
"I'm gonna reboot CRS in the next six months, maybe next year. Tyler, [The Creator] has one of the CRS records. But it's gonna go back to the original energy, which was me rapping over Radiohead beats."
The group rose to fame primarily in the 2000s. In 2007, Lupe Fiasco told Billboard that they were making a full-length studio album. In 2013, however, he took to X and wrote that the group was canceled. In the tweet, he wrote,
"The CRS group is cancelled. Done. Not happening. Stop asking."
In the current conversation, Lupe added that he wanted to travel back and find some original [vibe] of the music. Before getting disbanded, the supergroup launched two collaborative singles.
