In the viral video, Perry was seen holding pizza boxes while waving at her fans. Suddenly, a young boy ran past the security to hug the singer from behind. While the security personnel tried to drag the child away, Perry turned around and shared pizza with the fan.

Fans took to X to react to Katy Perry's viral fan moment, with many comparing her behavior to that of popstar Chappell Roan.

On September 20, Katy Perry unveiled her seventh studio album during her performance at the Palco Mundo (Main Stage) at the 2024 Rock in Rio festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year's performance marked the third time the pop star performed at the festival after two editions in Brazil and one in Lisbon.

Ahead of her performance, Katy Perry exclusively interacted with some of her fans on September 18 at Cidade do Rock, giving them the chance to listen to the entirety of her new album 143 before its official release during the festival.

During her performance, Perry finally unveiled her album in front of the crowd, performing her popular tracks for fans. Speaking about the significance of Perry launching her album during the Rock in Rio festival, CEO Luis Justo said:

“A global launch by an artist like Katy Perry is a rare opportunity. Pop star Cyndi Lauper also joined Perry on stage during her performance, as the duo paired up to sing Lauper's iconic 1984 Billboard-hit Time After Time.

"I want to sing one of my favourite songs, it means so much to me, especially in Brazil. I want to be exactly like you when I grow up, exactly like you. You are so incredible, so connective, so full of life, so full of energy," Perry told Lauper on stage.

After her performance, Perry interacted with her fans and followers outside her hotel in Rio de Janeiro while offering them pizza. Speaking to the crowd on camera, the singer said:

"We are about to deliver pizza to the fans because we love them."

For her latest album, 143, Katy Perry collaborated with her previous partners, Dr Luke, Max Martin, and Stargate. The album features several collaborations, including those with JID, 21 Savage, and Doechii. Ahead of the 143's release, Perry released three singles from the album — Woman's World, Lifetimes, and I'm His He's Mine featuring Doechii.
