Rapper Chino XL, whose real name was Derek Emmanuel Barbosa, reportedly passed away at the age of 50. A source close to the musician confirmed the news with media outlet, AllHipHop, on Monday, July 29, 2024.

On the same day, fellow rapper A-F-R-O took to X to pay tribute to the late celebrity. He wrote:

“RIP to CHINO XL… I’m gonna miss you, big bro.”

Details about the cause of death was not made public at the time of writing this article.

For the unversed, Chino XL entered the music industry at the young age of 16. He was initially signed to Rick Rubin’s American Recordings label. He made his debut with an album titled Here to Save You All that featured artists like Ras Kass and Kool Keith, among others.
